I have a roach infestation.

Featured Replies

About a year ago, my aunt gave our family a recliner for our living room. Little did we know, living inside the old thing were roaches. As the days went on, we began to see more and more of them around the house, and soon they were everywhere. We've tried just about everything short of hiring an exterminator for the little pests. They're pretty much secluded to the kitchen and living room, and they live in the walls. I kill them whenever I see them and my fly swatter is in reach, but it doesn't help much. Any ideas on how to get rid of them for good?

hate to say it, but exterminator. They're expensive, because they know what they're doing.

Well, then do it.

TERMINATOR !

For cockroaches.

Only solution really.

Just eat them all.

Hire an exterminator. Really, if everything else hasn't worked, then call in the experts.

Also, you could try those little alarm wall plugins. They emit a high pitched noise that the roaches don't like and it might drive them out. If you have pets though that is a problem.

Exterminator would be your best bet for the quickest, safest and cleanest removal of them.

Kill them with fire!

Or call the exterminator.

Just make sure this exterminator promises you a money-back guarantee.

Promises mean nothing, get it in writing =X

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Somebody dig up that C&H comic  .

In all seriousness, get an exterminator. You may not know anything about the roaches, but the exterminators do. Besides, the word exterminator sounds really awesome.

Bomb the [bleep] out of 'em . Cheap and it eventually works if you're consistent with it.

Take the Republican route to get rid of those roaches. Bomb the hell out of your house, then claim you had reason to believe they had a nuclear weapon.

Yup. No way around it now, especially for roaches.

That's cold. :P

Or, take the Democratic route, and don't touch them, and hope they go away, besides, you don't want to hurt their feelings. And as Peta states, you are sub human if you kill an insect.

Incase you weren't aware, this is sarcasm, and is posted in good nature.

Roaches are actually the only living creature able to survive nuclear fall out....so...no. I'd say if the bomb happened to land on the roach it's self, however the way nuclear bombs work, they never actually touch the ground. So unless you're willing to carpet bomb/agent orange your property for a few days.... :?

But yeah, if it's as bad as you say it is just call up an exterminator. If it's no that bad, buy some of those sticky poison deals you can find at Home Depot. They're kind of gross after use, but they work.

More than a roach can survive a couple of other bugs survived LONGER and BETTER than roaches.

Water bears. They survive in space. And I don't think nuclear fallout survivability is an issue when you consider the giant fireball explosion that also accompanies a nuclear bomb. Which a water bear could also probably survive.

Why are you all saying the only solution is an exterminator?

If I were you, I would find out what the exterminator himself would do, Google'ing exterminator supplies and techniques. Heck, maybe there is even an exterminators forum. 8-)

I've told my parents more than once that we need to hire an exterminator, and their response is always "okay" or "I know," but they won't do it. I don't understand why they won't, but it's their house, so I guess its their choice. I still wish there was some other way to get rid of the things.

I think the only thing I could do now is clean the living room and keep the dishes in the kitchen cleaned, but my stepdad doesn't like me messing with his stuff (which covers a whole half of the living room).

Any ideas on how to convince my parents to hire an exterminator?

Then call the Ghost busters.

But just go to a store and buy a bug bomb, leave it in your house and go do something out of the house for few hours. It's mostly identical to the flee bomb. If you have a cat or dog I reccommend you board them for the whole day. You don't want them licking objects that have been poisoned.

We bombed the house four or five times already. It kills them alright, but not all of them. Enough are always left alive that they reproduce back to their old numbers pretty quickly.
