I recently bought a Creative MuVo TX FM player, that uses one AAA battery, and it's life is stated at "Up to 11 hours".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The battery included with the player was a standard Energizer. I used it for only a few hours, and last I remembered the meter still said it was fully charged (three out of three bars). I didn't turn it on for half a week, and when I did, the battery was completely dead, wouldn't even start up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So I replaced it with a cheap dollar-store battery, and used it for no more than two hours last week. Didn't use it at all on the weekend, and today when I tried to start it.. dead. It's not like the battery is being drained ultra fast while it's on, it just goes from fully charged to dead when I don't even use it. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be defective?

Ahh batteries. The 11 hours it claimes will always be an overstatement especially when using a standard Alkali battery like the ones you put in so far. You should try something like a Duracell Ultra M3 or Energizer 32 Lithium single use batteries or if you want something rechargable go for the more expensive Duracells or Energizer ones. They are specially made for electronic devices such as mp3 players and will last much longer.

 

 

 

When it comes to batteries if you buy cheap you buy twice ;)

Like Matt said, when it comes to devices like MP3 players and digital cameras the quality of the battery can make a lot of difference, but don't expect it to live up to any claims made by the manufacturer. However, if the problem persists, you might want the manufacturer to take a peek inside, as it means that there's probably something damaged, causing the power to leak. It happened to my younger brother's player.

Try using "Rayovac Maximum Plus" batteries. They're the high end Rayovac batteries, comparable to duracell ultra yet they're cheaper and from my experience are equal to or better than duracell ultra.
