No-lifing like never before.

Recommended Posts

What-[garden tool] everyone! My account is fairly unspectacular, but I have recently decided to obtain all 99s, and I will do this by way of the Ubermann Sleep Schedule.

Without going into excessive detail, the principle is that I will sleep for 20 minutes every four hours, totaling 2 hours in a 24-hour period. This allows me 22 hours a day for gaining xp.

As far as I'm aware nobody has attempted this before, so I thought I'd record my attempts here, starting 15th June 2009. I encourage you to share your stories/experiences of no-lifing in this thread, and, if you like, call me a pathetic nerd with no life.

P.S. The guy who gave the sleep cycle its name has written a post here:

http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=892542

Also note that I am a healthy 135 pounds with no medical conditions, so I don't think I'll have any problems (though I guess if you don't see an update for a while, I've probably died).

==================

Agility xp:

15/07/2009, 12:00 - 2,687,147 (Level 83)

16/07/2009, 12:00 - 3,263,781 (Level 85) - Gained 576,634 xp. Due to fatigue I couldn't concentrate enough to play the full 22 hours, and took a lot of breaks. Daily xp should increase from now on.

Sleeping diary:

15/07/2009:

12:28 First nap attempt, didnt sleep

16:22 Second nap attempt, very tired, still didnt sleep. Really hoping that I will fall asleep at 8pm.

16/07/2009:

Managing to sleep for most of the 20 minute periods. Some slight nausea after waking. For the most part though, very refreshed despite having less than an hour of sleep in a 24-hour period.

Hey, I thought you'd quit?

Pretty impressive goals you've taken up.. I'm concerned with your health though, and I reckon you're going to get bored after a short while. I'd be a bit more patient, to make sure you're still enjoying it after a few months.

Took me 8 years to get all the 99's...

This is going to be so bad for your health its silly. After about 20 days your body will start to reject the idea.

I wouldn't advise you do it, but if you do goodluck and keep the coffee brewing.

That sleeping schedule is just plain stupid. I laugh at the many people who do it.

But seriously. You may kill yourself from heart failure like that South Korean.

Which reminds me I need to look for a mini table for my table (was shown on the koreans desk) for drinks and so on.

Can you link me to a story about the guy who died? I've taken it up after reading a post by the person who gave the cycle its name, and he said he did it for 6 months, with friends, with no negative effects.

That seems pretty excessive, didn't it take n0valyfe 3 years or so?

N0valyfe had a name that resembled his play style: no life.

Anyways, playing excessively like you're planning to do will probably make you lose interest. The only way I've gotten all those 99's is by taking regular breaks, doing other stuff in between, clear my mind, and such. I can't imagine one playing 22 hours a day, and actually persist.

Try doing 1.5 hours of sleep 3 times a day. That's pretty much the most extreme polyphasic sleep schedule that won't have many detrimental effects.

But, whatever. Good luck, try not to kill yourself.

Ah this isn't the same; he was actually sleep deprived. I'm still getting regular sleep, and although I will be tired for the first few days, once my brain adjusts I will actually be better off than before.

so your body can adjust having 1/4 the ammount of sleep as long as you do it in short intervals over the day, seriously man that worries me, not to mention you need exercise and a job to pay for your runescape?

:| killing yourself for a video game?

anyway its your life, however should you survive this well done and good luck.

Killing myself? You're really overreacting. As I've said previously, many people have done it with great success. With regards to you other points:

Exercise - going to do half an hour outside each day.

Money - got plenty.
