Possible Virus?

Featured Replies

Well whenever I vist the runescape website these days I get some sort of download confirmation which I always close/decline. The funny thing is this is happening on my both of my computers, one of which I have not used in a while. So has this happening to anyone else or is it just me?

I was thinking the same thing.

Are you using Firefox?

I have a habit of using the RS client.

That site is not endorsed by Jagex. I just mentioned Firefox because I get popup asking be to allow Java when running Runescape. But perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.

Ok I searched up "cdn.fastclick.net" and it seems to be some sort of advertisement, possibly a virus but I'm not sure on that.

What I'm wondering is if it is actually the ad above the game asking permission to be displayed. Does this only appear when you use the RS Client? Try using firefox for a while and see if you get the same popup. If you do then my guess would be you might have a virus, if not then it might be the ad above the game asking permission to be displayed.

Or it could be that Jagex has some bad ads and in that case perhaps you should report the ad that is being displayed when that message pops up.

Well when I use IE, it tells me it has blocked the site from downloading any files to my computer. So I am sure if allowed it would come on IE as well.

Nothing to worry about.

Its just the script for the ad at the top of the page, make sure you have javascript enabled for the ad site or *cough* AdBlockPlus *cough*
