umm, i won an auction off a pokemon card but i changed my mind and decided not to buy it. i contacted the seller and told him/her to cancel the bid. the seller refused. what should i do? 'cause i really don't want to pay for something i already bought. :wall:

As an ebay buyer (my feedback is over 700) you messed up. I've balked on 0 items.

You can pay for it and get it, or get your account suspended. Sign up with a new email fine, but they do cross reference the addrress's on file I believe

I buy a ton of sports cards, and I expect to pay 3-4 shipped an item, if someone actually charged a dollar shipping, they are going to toss that card into a plain white envelope with a toploader if you are lucky and it might get to you bend free. He cant neg you, he can fill out a NPB form that can get you suspended and if you use paypal - assuming you do - he can get the money in the dispute and then keep the card, I've never had a NPB filled out for me - although i've opened disputes on sellers and gotten refunds twice.

screw it, i'm locking this.

For what? Getting slack for breaking a legally binding contract because you are paying slightly above average shipping and handling fees?

Edit: Generally If i buy a nice card for 15+, I also add the $1.35 for insurance and communicate to the seller beforehand to make sure tracking is included for .35

^ I doubt you even use eBay.

Not that often, no.

I prefer to buy things off Amazon and Play, which offer free delivery, and are often cheaper.

However, I have bought a few games off eBay too (FFX and FFVIII come to mind). So don't assume I don't use something, rather maybe you should learn more about the terms of the service you use.

Generally topics asking how to get out of a legal contract go nowhere.

Still. 4.95 for shipping isnt bad typically.

Mailer .99

toploader .10 cents

postage for a card in a mailer 1.44?

insurance 1.35

tracking .35

gas to post office and HANDLING - XX.XX

4.95? Not bad - Not great, but nothing to not pay over.

Not to mention your post does sound like it's full of excuses or vast inexperience - you should of known shipping and condition before bidding.

If you don't plan on paying, don't bid in the first place :wall:

It's not like he's going around bidding on things he's not gonna buy, he just bid on something he decided he didn't want.

Hmm...I'm no expert, but didn't you just contradict yourself?

Anyway...

Bidding and not paying is illegal. For 20 bucks, I'd get over it. You were planning to pay 13$ or so, and you're going to pay 20. Nothing to cry about, or to get bad conscience about.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's just $20 and I'm assuming you can re-sell for atleast $10 so you'd only lose $10 - my advice is either take it on the chin or give the buyer an apology , and offer to give them the listing fee plus a little bit of compensation for wasting their time. If not for the fact you wouldn't like it if someone else did the same to you and you had to spend money/time relisting the item, it's not worth the trouble of having your eBay account suspended over such a small amount of money.

They do cross reference - my sister made her own account but used the same address as mine - mine with 70 pos feedback. Both were suspended the next day. It took about three months to un-suspend it since you need to provide a TON of proof of address - and i was not the actual homeowner (that was my dad)

To the OP, if you get your account suspended, and you're not the homeowner, it will be a huuuge pain unsuspending your account. You can't just make another one (really, do you think they're that stupid?) And if anyone else in your house needs ebay... well... they'd be screwed

heres what happened:

the seller kept harassing me to pay, when i refused, he filed an unpaid item strike. i asked eBay to remove it and it worked! I no longer have to pay.

so thread over.

Congrats, you're still a [bleep] for wasting someone's time over $20 - eBay probably removed it because they couldn't be bothered chasing after someone as immature as to waste someone's time over $20.

honestly, do you really have to set a speed record for jumping to conclusions without knowing why eBay had to cancel my bid?

i canceled it legally. i explained why i didn't want the item and according to their policy, it was acceptable, to a slight degree so the only appropriate action was to remove the strike that was given to me.

so in theory, im not a [bleep] or w/e you just called me. you're the egotistical douchebag that flames people over dead arguments.

i'll much rather keep $20 than compensate someones time (probably a dude that lives 1000s miles across seas) over buying an overpriced item.

sorry but its pretty much common sense.
