The previous RuneScape Q&A proved to be both popular and successful, so we thought it was about time for another one.

 

 

 

We will be opening up a "Questions for Jagex" thread in the News & Announcements forum tomorrow for anyone who wants to post questions to us. This thread shall remain open until the morning of Monday 3rd August, after which we will compile questions and pass them on to the people at Jagex best suited to answer them.

 

 

 

Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard (Mod MMG) will be providing the first batch of answers, which will be posted on the forums next Thursday (6th August). In addition to posting his answers, we will also be hosting a live Q&A session on the forums with him on the same day, starting at 8pm (GMT), and running for a couple of hours or so.

 

 

 

Each Thursday from then on, we will post another batch of answers and host another live Q&A session for those questions relevant to the other teams here at Jagex. Those directly relevant to RuneScape are as follows:

For Community Management:

 

Is there somebody assigned to trawl through forums and/or fansites on a regular basis? Who exactly does all of that, and about how much time is spent on it?

 

 

 

For RS Content:

 

There are a few clarifications I have about some parts of the game that have never really been clear.

 

 

 

How exactly does the Ring of Wealth work? There was a Guthix letter about it once, but it was very cryptic.

 

 

 

Is barehanded fishing the same speed as fishing with a regular harpoon?

 

 

 

How rare are the different pieces of the lumberjack set compared to each other? Mod Sallyd once said they are equally rare, but anecdotal evidence strongly suggests otherwise. And why can't I get a second set of lumberjack? I'd like to have a spare set, but every time I get the event they just don't drop anything anymore.

 

 

 

How does lighting fires affect your reward percentage when fighting evil trees?

 

 

 

In skills like woodcutting and fishing, how much effect does a higher level have on your gathering speed? Is there a fixed ratio that determines how much faster you can gather? For example, it's rumored that it's beneficial to wait several levels after 60 before cutting yew trees, because yew trees will be faster once you get to a higher level. But on the flip side, if you were chopping willows to get from 60 to 70, the willows would also get faster! Would they get faster at a different rate, i.e., does one level-up make more of a difference for magic logs than it does for teaks?

 

 

 

Mechscape:

 

Can you give us some idea of what it will be like to play Mechscape? Will it have the same sort of level-up system as Runescape?

 

 

 

Languages:

 

Do things like puns ever get lost in translation? If so, do you remember any specific examples? What do you replace them with?

 

 

 

MMG:

 

Where do you think Runescape will be 20 years from now?
