vivimancer
obviously it was a slow day at jagex game development, so after a little scratching heads, one particularly bright spark said; "I know lets put in a quick chat system that loads of people say they want," "say thats a good idea but just thing thats missing that would make it great." "Whats that Jim?" "Lets use a menu system that takes ages to use, so it would be quicker to type it out!" "Thats fantastic! but wait, lets make dedicated servers where you can only use quick chat!!" Amazing, make players practically unable to communicate with anyone but in stilited language, meaning everyone sounds like a [cabbage] robot . Beloved
Actually, quick chat wasn't meant to be used by "normal" players, it was intended mainly for Jagex to be able to allow children below the age of 13 to play aswell. As soon as you say you're below 13, when you create an account, you will be limited to the use of quick chat untill the day you turn 13. This way Jagex avoids any legal actions taken against them (which is a very good thing!). As a side effect it will also cater for muted players, but i think the above mentioned was the main reason for quickchat to be developed.
Wheels
It's nice to prove that you're not lying about levels or something, I guess. I also use it often for saying my slayer assignment for example. Much easier to hit Enter+SS4 than to type the monster. Are you winning The Game?
Dexek
I often use the SC quickchat to ramble off levels quickly for those who ask. I use some of the others as well. I probably only use about 10 statements in total, though. It is nice for those who are muted or are too young for regular chat. Also, you can usually get resources easily on the QC worlds since people generally only use them when they are required to. DuckyTheSwan
Quick chat isn't for normal players old enough to play runescape... It's for children that shouldn't be playing anyway and muted players who have given up their right to free typing. If you don't like it, don't use it and don't log into quick chat worlds. I quite like quick chat worlds myself, makes catherby fishing a lot less annoying.
Kilerhageman
I do agree with you at the point that the menu is very slow. For non-experienced Quick Chat users, it's a hassle to communicate trough the system.
