August 4, 200916 yr I bought an lenovo t61 2 years ago, i am now searching for a new laptop for school still. Looking at 14 inch monitor. The look doesn't have to be fancy, nice keyboard.. Ok graphic card. I am not sure if it is true, but a lot of my friend's HP laptop tend to run into problems.. so i am not sure if i should hold back on HP laptops. Any suggestion would be nice.. August 9, 200916 yr HP laptops did have overheating problems, but they repaired that on their new models, supposedly. I was going to link you to an Asus laptop, but I just saw you're not going over $1000 :S. Edit: I actually found this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2289
August 10, 200916 yr http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220519  That's over $1000 in canadian money.
August 13, 200916 yr http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220519  I'm using this exact one right now, and it runs like a dream. Shipping was pretty fast too: 4 days to ship from LA to my place in Canada. Only real downside I've found after a month of use is the length of the power cord. It's shorter than what I'm used to. I've also stretched the battery life to around 3:30 while only web browsing/light usage. And it barely gets warm even under intense use. My old laptop would practically burn my hand if I was to touch the bottom after heavy use. Including shipping and all other costs, it ended up being $1370 CDN.
August 13, 200916 yr I recommend this ASUS K40 Series K40IN-A1 4GB 14" NoteBook, it is in your budget and works fine.
