I haven't heard of this ever happening, but if it is due to a glitch in the GE it's a bug as the GE isn't intended to do that. When you click, your click might drag out into when the box dissapears, and you'll add whoever happened to be under the bar at the time. You'll find that if you hide the game chat while there this doesn't happen. The other thing it might be is that the GE search box is not completely opaque-something like how you can click through the Text box to move in HD. I find this unlikely, though.
