Stonepilot
So, I left RS for a few months- not because of something Jagex did, but just because I wanted to move up to bigger and more expensive games, but I come back and see that apparently, now everyone hates Jagex- Or just has a brooding resentment. What happened? Can someone explain to me the series of events that started, say, beginning of last July to now that turned Jagex into a misguided parental figure into Satan? Me? Until I can become a member again, I'm just mining Rune Essence, pure and simple, and it works out for me. Glad to know my homies are looking out for me. Atom Smash40
when did you leave? to my understanding, it started on jan 1st 2008, after they removed wildy and free trades. ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
Stonepilot
Actually, I came back from my first longest break right after that. Seems like every time I leave something important happens. I stopped playing right before June (this year) and I'm definitely thinking of starting again today. Apparently the entire high-level fanbase is infected with Old Man Syndrome- They feel that everybody should have to suffer as much as they do. It's sad and funny to read at the same time. Goddammit, I hate searching through pages on these forums. Glad to know my homies are looking out for me.
Me_Hate_Libs
Started with removal of wildy and from unblanaced trades, then quite a bit of overtweaking of the whole PVP replacement system. Lately some people resent them over their upgrade year and the lack of big, headline content. The big headline content that has come out this year have mostly been the upgrades. I wouldn't call it a majority, but the people who are upset are very vocal about it. This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd. Stonepilot
Hm. Well I got hacked, so I guess that no big upgrades is good for me, so that I can rebuild my bank easily. The idiot went from 300 items to 40.. Still, it's their game, so. If you don't like it you can leave (like I did.. several times). Glad to know my homies are looking out for me. aerendil
well, currently, things are pretty bad... on sep 2 jagex release rune trex 5 and with it a LOT of bugs... a huge number of safespots have been romoved, such as the dks rex safespot, tds dont lure now, drop rates for just about everything have been lowered... and jagex has done very little to stop pvp tricking  in other news yea, no good updates at all this yea. JoeDaStudd
It seems with every update they enchance one part of the game, but break another. In the long list of broken things the more important ones get left behind, but the little ones get fixed. For example the summoning update was pretty amazing, but kills bandos tanking. They fixed the little other bugs, but left the bandos bug out there. The RT5 made every thing look nice, but broke a lot of things. Instead of the safespots, opposite moving and the other big bugs they fix the drop option in the bank..... So far I've noted about 8 system updates since the RT5 update and not of them mention the other bigger bugs. Sy_Accursed
The also noted in the dev blog, patch notes and news announcement runetech 5 invovled reworking thousands and thousands of lines of coding and that despite copious testing many bugs were liable to be present due to the nature of such an extensive upgrade and they would do their best to fix all bugs asap. therefore anyone whining about bugs in runetech 5 are complete idiotic brats who lack all ability to read and even comprehend how coding works. Sir_Squab
People don't care what coding is like. They only care about the result. Also, it's worth noting that a happy player is usually a silent player. When they're happy, they play the game. It's the unhappy players that get loud about everything. And is the bandos tanking thing a bug? From my understanding, if your familiar attacks the general, he attacks you back even if theres another tank. Ok, so send your familiar to attack a minion. And, the actual tank can even attract Graardors attention if Graardor starts out on the wrong person! So, is that really a bug? Squab unleashes Megiddo! Before the summoning update your familiar could attack the general all it wanted to and nothing happened. Now either that was a bug or this is a bug as its neither been confirmation as a change, improvement or an aim. So its a bug. My issue with the bugs is the order there getting fixed in not the fact there are bugs. Logically you fix the biggest issues first then work your way down the priority list. If the theres a bug with the current system then you fix it before making any changes. You don't go and add more content to your work load greater. The RT5 added a lot things which testing would have found if the testers were real players. For example the rune stock levels, summoning shop stock levels, safe spots and so on. Yes every program has bugs, but Jagex always seems to let the most obvious bugs which 99% of players would find in seconds through the net. The phrase beta testing seems to mean nothing to them. Judobreaker
Testing everything is not as easy as it sounds... Right now theres 110000 people online. If something is released an amount this big would mean 110000 testing hours done in 1 hour. That's 52 years of testing (one year being 52 weeks 5 days a week in my calculation)!! No wonder we players find each and every bug that slips through within an hour... -.- My guide: Ring of Wealth explained 8 Dragon Boots (885 kills, 1/111, with RoW)
JoeDaStudd
That all fair, but how many players saw shop update. O lets go to the shop, hence them find rune and shard issues. How hard is it for a tester to do the same? There are lots of simple bug which are simple to test and there "testers" seem to have a hard time finding them. As for the testing time why not beta test with real players? 2000 players for 1 week would be the same as 110000 players finding bugs in 30 minutes. Which a lot of them are found within a few minutes. Hell if you was to do a brain storm with 2000 players about some of the updates I'm sure they'd say hold on a minute what about x. The difference is there testers don't seem to be active players. You don't test a meat product on a vegetarian so why test a game with non gamers..... I think the shop stock one was a bad one to miss, but at the same time consider how many shops there are in-game they did quite good. Also given how big a project runetek 5 is and the fact they mentioned it being "extensively tested" for a long time before release I think may explain where QA time has been eaten up, thus allowing a few more bugs than normal to trickle through in other updates. TheKoolKandy
I say for the time being instead of screaming at Jagex of what they screwed up with, we should just submit bug reports when we find one and give them a few weeks to get everything more or less how it use. :) Slayer; it's just what I do.Thanks Hugger 88 for the awesome siggy!Click show if you want to see achievements.Achievments: Maxed/Comp'd 7th of August 2012. 120 Dungeoneering sometime early december 2011. 99 Slayer achieved October 22nd, 2010. 99 Prayer achieved September 99 18th 2010.
