Temple of Light: Sound Beams

While doing the newest elven quest (Within the Light) I noticed that the light beams also contain beams of directed sound. Actually, I noticed it while doing MEP2 long ago, but I didn't think it was anything significant.

Different light colours have different sound frequency.

Compare it to the sound in the :wall: cutscene. It's clearly crystal chanting sound.

In the quest it was revealed that Prifddinas was reverted to crystal seed form. My theory is that the Temple of Light contains the frequencies for reverting and rebuilding the city. For people who haven't done the Glouphrie quests, crystal items are reverted by overcharging it with the same sound as used to create the item.

This may be the hidden part of the puzzle which Mod Chris L mentioned. QFC 15-16-402-59724757, page 22.

Hey again all,

I hope you've enjoyed the new quest and continuation of this storyline.

As some of you have gathered, it isn't meant to be super-difficult (although there is something about the puzzle that no-one has mentioned yet...)

We wanted to make a quest that would bring you back to the storyline after so long, answer a few questions about a certain city *not* on the map and as the newspost says, give you an idea of what is to come.

To be truthful about the future; with other projects on the go, we do not have the graphics time as of yet to give the city the justice it deserves, but have no doubt I have grandmaster-plans for the continuation of the storyline, which I will be discussing with other developers and when graphics is available to work on it... we'll see.

Until then, happy questing.

-Chris

I noticed they made sound too but I didn't think anything of it. My question is what do red, blue, and green do? In the final switch it was black, which you were supposed to drive all three colors into. The three colors make white. While black is the absence of all color, white is the presence of all color. So was the city sealed with all frequencies known to man? Surely they would have one or two you couldn't hear.

I still feel cheated if that reached the rank of grandmaster since mep2 was harder.

The dwarf is still at the death alter, maybe there is a part 2 to the puzzle?

Nice find and good theory!

Although I don't hope we will have to go through another "Temple of Light"-kind of puzzle...

The thought of that, even if it will be two years away, made my bladder quiver a little.

While under constant attack by elves and crystalline shapeshifters. I keep wondering when those are going to enter the game.

Whee city-wide light show :D

I don't play with sound on, so I never noticed that any noise was being made. But it looks like something that will be expanded upon once we actually get to Prffndinas (sp?)

What I'm guessing is this: It's actually the crystal sound that makes the doors open and other stuff happen. But the sounds are a bit too hard to figure out and do the puzzle. I think the different light colors are just there to help us solve the puzzles.

Yes, but we can take it off topic into something more interesting? For example, by Sunday the weather down in Tampa will finally cool off and our high will only be 73 instead of 91 like it has been. So yeah!

Or I could say something dumb like set your Elven Crystal Light Beams to stun. pew-pew-pew

Ew Florida... Waitaminute... I live here, crap.

OT, I wonder when Prffndinas will actually become unlocked. Sometime within the next year I hope D:

Probably not. If I remember correctly, they want the graphics to be so awesome for it that we have to wait for Jesus to come back and design the quest for them. So look for it about a year after Jesus comes back.

But apparently it's all seed now, we don't need graphics for that. Just make growing the city yet another quest after unlocking the city. It's Jagex's style.

Better yet, we do the quest, and then we watch it grow. It'll take like 6 weeks. Like every week when the Penguins and Circus resets we see the city grow some more.

As dumb as that sounds, I wouldn't put it past them.

Definitely sounds like something they'd do haha

Sound waves relating to the light beams. I don't see much more discussion though D:

Thanks.

I know why the different colours have different pitches. If it's a low frequency light, such as red, the pitch, or sound frequency is also low. High frequency light, such as blue, has a high pitch. The 'white' light is comprised of three different colours, so you hear three different pitches. My guess is that should you focus that sound onto a crystal, it will change colour to the appropriate frequency. That's my guess.

If anyone has ever read the 7th tower Series (or the first book) by Garth Nix, you'll understand this better.

In the first book there is a part where the main charecter must perform a musical piece. This is done by using a sunstone (stone that stores the power of the sun, and can emit light in controlled beams of any colour, and many beams can be projected at once) to send light beams into a crystal tree to make sounds. There is also a visual display much light a hologram from startrek also created by the sunstone (this is extreme multitasking if you ask me).

I wonder if puzzle 3 will be setting up different sounds in different places, creating some creepy harmony.

Maybe the frequencies spell something? E.g. the Frequency wave ### is C on a piano etc.?

I noticed they made sounds through there could be something you could do by touching the light in an order and you know light can touch the door which may mean something. ;-)

Edit: Perhaps you should bring the Crystal Chime there.

  • Author

I tried to use the uncharged chime/saw seed from Glouphrie quests on the beams of every colour, but nothing happened.

Has anyone tried to use the shield/bow crystal?

Interesting find...I wonder if they are correct in the real world though. If we could hear colors. lol

Big_Stingman.png

If there are any creatures made out of crystal, technically we could just rip that bowl out of that chamber and sonic blast them back into seeds.
