I see everywhere how good that weapon is. But is it true ?

Slayer task wearing d'hide (i'm too cheap to bother with karils), with unicorn. Leaf Sword + rune def and ardy cape, *barrows gloves*, fury well the basic stuff. 1 dose extreme antifire, extreme attack, super strength and 4 unicorn scrolls used for all.

When before using the common whip + dfs tactic i needed to repot attack + strnght every 2 kills... mind you i also piety flashed which i even didn't bother this time.

 

And looking at it Zammy spear doesn't beat sword + def... maybe in strenght but it's also a lot slower... Yout thoughts ?

I don't know about your stats, but last time I finished my task of 4 miths in 4.5 minutes without extreme antifires (and thus having to eat more often).

 

Lbs + rune def = 86 stab + 55 str

Zs = 85 stab + 75 str

They have the same speed too I think, since zs is whip speed and so are most swords.

 

+20 str better than +1 stab?

As far as I know Zammy spear isn't slower, I don't use it a lot so I could be wrong.

 

And it has +20 Strength over LBS and Defender at the cost of -2 Stab.

It's also fairly decent for it's crush attack but you don't seem to be bothered with that.

Technically, LBS has a higher stab bonus, but Z Spear has +20 str bonus instead, which is far more useful.

Which of course, you won't use while killing dragons. This makes the Zammy Spear the best option to use when killing Metals.

I've tried both, and the spear is better. Both are better than Whip/DFS though. It doesn't sound like you've used the spear.

Imo, the z spear is beast for most tasks, also the crush tasks.

I also use for gargs and wfs but most effective on stab tasks, such as drags.

Not worth having both in my opinion just for a slightly better crush, since the spear is +5 more accurate but has 7 less strength. The difference is marginal.

Sure, the two have roughly the same damage output in crush mode, but the Sara Sword is still better even when you just need to crush. The notable difference is that the Sara Sword trains strength while crushing. Zammy spear only trains defensively. Strength experience is more valuable than defense experience. You can use a whip to train in defensive mode, but not aggressive, so whenever you want to train strength, you're not normally able to utilize the best weapon; however, when you're using crush attacks, the SS gives the opportunity to train aggressive-style without losing out on kill speed, so you should take that opportunity when it presents itself.

I guess from my standpoint (i.e. of a player with 99s across the melees), I don't really care too much about a specific xp. If you were concerned with defense, of course get the sword.
