The escape of "Evil Bob Island"

Featured Replies

No.. this is not some spoiler of an upcomming quest with Evil Bob!

Sorry to disappoint you :-D

Anyhow - i've gotten my self into a little "odd" situation.

Even though its a rather rare random event, i got the one with Evil Bob on his fishing island,

and as far as i remember, ur forced to recieve fishing xp as reward.

Well im 63xp from getting 99 fishing,

and.. i kinda planed to lvl somewhere else, rather than right after i finish this random event

So.. does anyone know if there is some way to avoid this, or is it actually optional which xp u gain?

(Hometele is no good)

You have to get the exp (fishing and cooking I believe), its part of that random event the same as the combat exp from the pheasants.

I'm not sure on the exact exp, but I'm pretty sure it will level you.

I don't think it gives fishing xp anymore, now you just get the usual mystery box with an xp lamp in it.

At least I think it doesn't, I quit fishing at 3260k xp or something just over that, and I'm pretty sure I've had 2 or more evil bob's island randoms since then.

I'm talking about the xp you used to get when you left the island though, I'm not sure if you get xp from catching fish to feed bob. If you do get xp for that, I'd imagine it would get you less than 63 xp.

I think it lets you leave the random if you stay logged out for longer than 15 minutes?

Correct me if i am wrong that used to be the way

Well, you stand corrected :-D Now, a few hours later, i'm still on the island

- unable to leave, unless i catch him those annoying nasty fishies he likes so much :)

I didn't even think about getting the xp from the actual fishing.

I never checked it, i just assmued it was like when fishing for

app. rating at MTK, where you hardly recieve any xp/fish at all..

Seems like theres no way to avoid this?

If you fail to complete any random event for 24 hours you get teleported to a random (safe) place in rs.

Atleast i recall reading that somewhere.

That may work, however:

From the runescape manual:

"If you successfully complete the random event you will be returned to the spot you were taken from; if you fail, you will be teleported to a random location. Don't worry too much about failing an event, though: you will never be teleported to a dangerous location. "

It doesn't say anything about just waiting 24 hours..

Guess time will tell :^_^:

I know it doesn't say it there, but I strongly recall somewhere something announced that 24 hours would kick you out. Due to the fact not all events are "failable" and if for some reason you cannot do the event you'd be trapped forever. Prison Pete always used to evict you after 24 hours and I think they applied that to all/most randoms when they updated.

Well - unless i come up with something better, i'll wait for tomorrow before acting..

Sounds reasonable too:)

Awwww That really stinks. I just got my 99 fishing about a week a go. I think I got to pick the lamp the last time I had that event though. I hope waiting works for you and post back and let us know how it goes.
