I object!

You can please all of the people all of the time: its called sex.

In hegemony thats not true, "you can please all of the people all of the time until people come up with new systems"

The point is, everyone was happy with v1, it had some flaws; thats true but v1 was most fun.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.

Punit squre diagrams say 'tis so.

Except for me, Ross and the other 1% of Asexuals out there....

I wasn't, therefore, by your system, we need a new system, but by the new system we don't need a new system, since a couple of people being unhappy isn't important any more.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

And people who have a fear/aversion to it for whatever reason and people who believe in joys beyond merely physical interaction...

the point i'm trying to make is that the statement is not true for everything, humans are evolved to enjoy it - only cultural situtations would stop that.

Also, would this statement work.

"You can keep all of the people content all of the time"

?

humans are evolved to enjoy it

That is a falsehood.

Evolution is a more complicated mechanism than just reproduction....If that were not so then sex wouldn't exist, everything would be about asexual reproduction and creating as many copies of yourself as physically possible.

An example would be Black Swans, which mate for life, if their partner dies directly afterwards then that is, usually, that.

Unless you propose that all animals have an innate culture (Since it has been observed in captivity, so learning it hasn't happened), something that even we humans lack, then we must assume that it runs much deeper than that.

Asexuality also exists within Bi-sexed speices, so it is not purely human in any case...

If we accept that, then the most probable cause is a genetic predisposition, something that we have evolved, over time.

We could have a long, drawn out, conversation about the benefits of asexuality, but we would have the underlying concept wrong...evolution isn't about benefits or disadvantages, its about getting hundreds of trillions of genes to randomly line up to create a person.

Natural Selection biases people who have benefical genes to survive, but that doesn't mean that they definately survive or people with 'bad' genes to die out...After all, I have a strong desire to have children, yet am Asexual, and if I was gonna be sexual, I would be gay...So, for me to have kids I would have to overcome two major revulsions in my life...and I am probably willing to do that...

So my genes can still be passed on, even though, from an evolutionary view point, they should not be past on.

So the idea that ALL Humans have evolved to enjoy sex is an entirely faulty assumption. It may be true for billions of other humans, but not for everyone.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Also, sexual reproduction is beneficial to some species because it helps the spread of beneficial genes. For example, if Archi had a gene for...wisdom and he were asexual, then only the Archi clones would have wisdom. However, if Archi found an Arcshe, then the beneficial gene would be past down the the offspring, while on the other side of the gene pool, Hex wins a Darwin award for being infected by zombie meat which he tried to use to disguise himself.

To be honest, with new technology that is beginning to emerge, the need for sexual reproduction will be a thing of the past; sex will soon become something that's merely for recreation or intimacy.

Probably about 50 years or so from now, you can just go to a clinic, give them some of your DNA, and have them make you a physically/intellectually superior child.

Of course, there would be ethical and financial barriers associated with that, but still...

And while we're on this topic, I heard about a year or so ago that scientists have successfully created an embryo with two eggs.

Ross, you're not asexual, you just never have had sex.

And feel absolutely no attraction to either gender. That is the literal defenition of asexual.

Either that, or reproducing by splitting, an ability which, as far as I am aware, I do not have.

Though genetics aren't as simple as guaranteed inheritance. My children (if I get any (which I hope)) will inherit a blue eye gene (since it is recessive and I have blue eyes) but has a 50% chance of inheriting hyperlipidimia.
