thinking of playing runescape again after over a year

Featured Replies

hi im thinking of playing runescape again. im 99 str 96 att 94 mage 70 def 70 pray... pretty much been a pker all my life. started 1 def had like 5 pk accs lots of "pures" and had about 200m in cash and items.

when wild was gone i was always top 100 in BH scoreboards, i gradualy lost money due to the teams in BH that would abuse bugs and make u lose ur weapon. then with the addition of pk worlds things got waaay out of hand.

every1 having flower fights and dclaws being worth 200m+ and nobody having a decent fight without some random guy dclaw specing you to death. all of these updates made my extreme wealth as an "expert pker" go down to maybe 10m and the economy was getting worse by the day.

i quit since pking is my passion and there was absolutly NO WAY to gain a profit from pking with all this happening.

sooo... has runescape improved at these issues at all? i may or may not come back. i miss the "wildly" days and want to know if pking is as fun now as it was before wild was gone.

no, pking sucks and you shouldn't return to a crappy system

Hi, pking has improved a bit, the bounty worlds are almost like the old wilderness except that there are still alot of idiots out there, but i guess there always were. They cant pj you anymore though if you attack someone, but the bad thing is no one can pj your attacker either if someone rushes you. The pvp worlds (seperate from bounty worlds) are 100% risk, which i find very enjoyable, because when you kill some1 they lose everything and youre almost guarenteed a good profit. The only thing missing is the nostalgic feeling of the old wilderness, but it has improved quite a bit from 2008. If you post a reply to this message, dont expect me to reply to it because i barely login to tip.it. But ya, if youre not sure if youll like it or not,ask some friends' opinions, watch videos,or try it out yourself. PS - inflation has caused everything to increase in price.

If PvP is where your heart is at then i dont think you should come back to Runescape just yet. Jagex claims that they are working on making PvP better (even though they are "satisfied" with the current state of affairs), but as of now Runescape is definitely a PvE game. Combat was never its strong point anyway to be frank..

Welcome back, jswaaz! I've moved your thread to the Help and Advice forum. Since this topic is moreso a question than a discussion topic, you're more likely to get quicker, more accurate answers here. :)

Good luck if you do decide to come back!

If pking is all you're interested don't come back, it's still as [cabbage]ty as it was before, and I doubt it will get better.

theres a 100% drop pk world? sounds almost exactly like old wildy. wat "precautions" have jagex done so RWT cant abuse the system?

100% drop meaning you are always skulled and you can't protect item, so you drop 100% of your own items if you die. The other guy can't necessarily pick them up. (Although he sometimes can.)

The main change is Bounty Hunter worlds, where only the Wilderness and some border areas like Edgeville are accessible and you PK in the Wilderness. You still get a BH target, but you have to spend a certain amount of time there first.

The average PK is worth more now than it was when PvP worlds first debuted, I think, because of the cash drops...although a lot of prices of PKing supplies have risen.

And now you're always auto-skulled in BH and PvP worlds, although in some BH worlds you're allowed to keep 1 item when you die.

Oh, and there are some new combat things. Mainly the new Ancient Prayers that just came out this week, and some changes that make Magic spells do more damage when you boost your magic level and/or wield a Master Wand, Void Mace, or Ancient/Ahrim/Zuriel Staff. Those could very well be used against you, so watch out for them.

Hope that helps.

enlighten me about these ancient prayers, as i became 70 def just to have piety. also i quit when they introduced the BH worlds, because i didnt like waiting in wild for an hour, pk some1. lose all your EP. wait another hour, repeat. that made pking boring.

List of all the new prayers:

http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/prayer_the_ancient_curses

They can drain your opponent's stats while raising your own. The best requires 95 prayer and gives some pretty hefty powerups. You have to do the Temple at Senntisten quest to use them.

If pking is your only passion in Runescape, do other things (like skilling, questing, etc) or just don't come back.

Ever since the wildy was changed it's not worth it to pk anymore.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Jagex have roally [bleep]ed the PvP system of the game. Getting rid of the old Wildy for RWT purposes was kind of acceptible, but they haven't done anything good to remedy its removal. So I suggest you stay back or, like sonic said, do other things that the game has to offer.

Def yes, summoning no. You need 41 summoning for one of the required quests. (Curse of Arrav.)

Actually, summoning yes as well.

I don't know if you were around for this, but Jagex made a system where your summoning level does not affect your combat level in PvP worlds so long as you do not have a familiar summoned or a pouch/scroll in your inventory.

Therefore, you can get the 41 summoning for Curse of Arrav and feel no penalty while pking in terms of combat level range.

yes im aware of that, however i collected maybe 30k charms over the course of a year and was planning to train summon after getting 99 str. but of course i got hacked and lost all my hard work b4 i could even train so i gave up on summoning. but it looks like ill have to train it to 41 which wont take long i guess. since im planning on 95 prayer is POH still the best way to train? (im like 20 construction)
