My theory on abbysal demons

Featured Replies

I've killed plenty of abby demons. When I used to be below 124 combat I wanted so badly to be able to single-click them. Their combat level of 124 always stuck in my head.

One thing about abby demons is that their junk drops are so similar to the drops of black demons. Rune chains, the occasional herb, rune mediums, black hatchets, etc. One theory I always had was that Abby demons had the same stats as black demons, with just half the melee offensive stats. I think they both have the same defence, which is pretty high. I think abby demons are probably a little weak to range, not that they won't teleport you in. They also have pretty much the same HP.

Do you all agree?

That could be pretty well true..

I mean the max of a Black Demon is after all 16 and the Abyssal Demon is 8.. So it is likely..

But i have no 100% idea.

Just in the way that Pyrefiends seem to have similar drop lists to Lesser Demons. I've been wondering about stuff like this for a bit too.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

from personal experience using void and slaying to 99 range, black demons have far less range defense then abyssals for sure

I don't agree on these things:

Defence - Abyssal demon have higher defence (Black demons defence is not high)

Abyssals weak to range - They are not.

It's close enough for government work IMO

A strength level of 40 doesn't provide double the max hit of a strength level of 20.

I think you just need to find something to do when you kill abby demons other than staring and making up conspiracies. Anyway, I hit abby demons less accurately than black demons so I doubt their defence is the same. It also isn't clear how Jagex control monster abilities behind the scenes, if they even share the same stat system as players do. Perhaps Jagex just plonk in a max hit/accuracy/defence rate. Or all monsters have the same stats and their abilities are governed by giving them invisible weapons and armour (with no animations) with bonuses on them.

There's some conspiracies for you.

Dragon Boots: 39|Abyssal Whips: 16|Dark Bows: 1|

More of a General Discussion topic than Help and Advice, but whatever.

When Jagex makes monsters, they have to input values for their stats. This means abyssal demons could very well be simply weaker black demons. Plus, consider that Jagex is made out of humans, who are naturally lazy beings. Why make up stats when you could copy a pre-existing one and have the same effect?

Although no one outside of Jagex can really prove this.
