Slayer + ancient curses

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if slayer in combination with the ancient curses would be useful. I've heard doing turmoil and soul split at the same time is a good way to train.

A few questions:

-Does this work nicely for slayer?

-How's the drain rate? How many ppots would I need for, lets say, 180 abyssal demons?

-Turmoil increases your stats, but does it also decrease the opponent (NPC) his stats? Or just increase your stats based on the opponent's stats? The KB isn't that clear on this subject...

I haven't done the quest but my friend did and he said the drain rate is the similar to that of the protection prayers. I would recommend wearing full prosalite or vestments and a dragon mace to get full advantage of the effects of the p-pots.

Basically, turmoil is only better than piety on higher leveled monsters. It is considerably better though when the monster is high leveled. It drains at about the same rate as piety.

Soul split is great to turn on for a minute every now and then just to heal up, but it uses prayer very quickly.

But I guess it is still better than constantly protecting? (like iron drags, just fight em without and soul split for 20 sec when you need health in stead of constantly protecting)

Yes bedman, I was wondering about that as well.

I still wonder why using turmoil and (sporadically) soul split is a good way to train slayer. I'd be fine with using a few extra ppots on tasks, but I don't want to spend that much. So I still wonder what the estimate costs are for an abyssal task, for example.

Don't waste P-Pots for tasks that are fine with just a Bunyip/Unicorn/etc. and/or an Enhanced Excalibur. Though, for higher-leveled tasks like Skeletal Wyverns, Soul-Split is awesome. There are very few monsters that can outperform soul-split.

I'm mostly wondering about the use of turmoil. Besides, low level monsters would mean I'd have to use soul split a lot less, right? So wouldn't that mean I'd only use a small bit of prayer when doing soul split? For example, I could do nechs in the chaos tunnels with a combat familiar instead of a bunyip.

You need a healer familiar for nechs? I could keep up fine with just EE and a inv full of pizzas.

Get an SGS then. Anyway, on tasks like nechs, where they only hit you for like 10 damage sporadically, I can imagine soul split uses very little prayer. Killing one nech while having soul split on heals over 25hp, which should last you for at least 10 nechs or so.

On tasks like abby demons, in non multi combat, the thing isnt even an issue since you should use a bunyip anyway (unicorn is overkill, even in proselyte).

I'd be more interested in tasks like Iron drags, wyverns, and black demons (on the top of my head, there are probably a few more). I guess mith drags won't work, and mutated bloodvelds, not sure since they attack you all at once.

Soul split combined with a Sara godsword is amazing for slayers. combine that with a bunyip and you can almost no pray and melee a whole black demon task in one inventory

I wouldn't recommend turmoil unless you doing dagganoth kings, KBD or KQ as your tasks for example. If you did want to speed it up with prayer then just use piety.

Why the hell would you use piety, which has the same drain rate but a worse boost, in stead of turmoil. You mean flicking piety?

Don't forget about berserker. It has a VERY slow drain rate, kind of like retribution or protect item.
