Anyways, this is a dumb story, and I honestly don't think should be posted. I imagine the woman obviously drew her conclusion God would provide from the story, about the woman's oil that never ran out. However, this woman is clearly unwell in the head, and the main reason why most people think Christians are wack jobs. One question: Why does no one on this forum post about other religious fanatics other than Christians? Like the Muslim families that kill their daughters for losing their virginity before marriage? And who said that religon never hurt anybody? No one who studied the crusades, I hope. Alright, this really bugs me. The Crusades WERE NOT RELIGIOUS. They were a bunch of essentially real estate wars, that the gov't called reiglious so that the Vatican would approve. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Obviously it's an extreme example. Sure, some people will make statements like "who said that religon never hurt anybody?", but that doesn't mean they think all religion hurts people. What I do tend to see a lot are comments such as yours where people feel they're being persecuted because they're religious. To be honest, it gets annoying. warren211
And who said that religon never hurt anybody?Religion seldom hurts people. People who abuse it or misinterpret it hurt people. This woman believes God is her defence. Wrong, she believes one overused phrase is her defense. "God will provide". I'm Catholic, and I know better than to be stupid when lives are at stake when things are totally preventable. "The Lord helps those who help themselves". That's not word for word in the Bible, but it's still very true. There's a difference between having faith and abusing it. God will provide when mankind is completely incapable of handling the issue themselves. Starvation can be overcome by the help of others, so God doesn't need to get involved (which is why it is the DUTY of well-set countries to assist the struggling ones). God's duty mainly involves issues on faith and the afterlife, not material things like food. There are starving children in Africa who struggle twice as worse as this family does, who does the woman think she is prioritizing herself before them saying God will come to her first when she doesn't even make the initiative to hunt for a job? Faith-abusing fools. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. aquariusman
Whatever happened to that phrase "God helps those who help themselves"? And every on of those people involved are idiots for not even TRYING to find food. The lack of care for their lives, I wouldn't mind if they did starve (Well, those of them over 12). I mean really, they should have been able to realize "Hey, I'm hungry, and no one else is doing anything to help me, I guess that means I have to." Also, shouldn't the 18 year old also have been charged with some form of child endangerment? I mean, she didn't do anything to help her siblings, and she was the second best person to do so. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. aquariusman
I definitely wasn't expecting it to be in the Bible, but I do still remember hearing it more than a few times during my life. Ummm I'm pretty sure that that phrase isn't true, nor found anywhere in the Bible.I don't know about it being true or not, but I certainly heard "the good lord helps those who help themselves" a lot when I was a kid. Also, I'm pretty sure the 18 year old wouldn't be charged with child endangerment as they were not the one responsible for the other children. OT: It sounds like this woman's belief that God would provide for her family is the same (I believe to be flawed) logic applied by followers of Christian Science believing that prayer and faith will heal their bodies. I have no problem with belief or faith, I do have a problem when people like this take it to a ridiculous extreme. People should not be allowed to do absolutely what-the-*bleep*-ever they want and then hide behind a religious belief (recent Muslim "honor killings" anyone?). Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
