Mith dragons chewy bones?

Ok after I got L85 slay and all skills to L70 I wanted to finish off all diaries.

I did Fremmenik easy and medium today and almost done with hard... BUT I need to get chewy bones from mith dragons to finish the firemaking thing at Barbarian training.

I've farmed 30 mith dragons so far ( best drops rune b axe & mace) but further than that I got some ancient pages and some regular drops.

Is it worth keeping farming these for the chewy bones or are they an extreme rare drop?

Don't wanna waste too much time here since my ranged & def aren't that high to get the maximum out of a trip (L87 ranged & 89 def)...

Got nice gear and all, but still I only manage to kill 5-6 per trip and I don't wanna spend too much time trying to get the bones...

Any ideas how long this takes in average? Thx alot!

Just kill the skeletons and use the other type of bones, I think they are called "Mangled bones".

You get them from killing the corpses in the ancient carven, but the pyre ship spawns a lvl 166 barb spirit instead of a gift, so you gotta run away from it. Won't take long at all.

I know, I read the tip.it guides too, but that wasn't the question. I'm not after mangled bones, I want the chewy ones.

I just need to know how many kills it takes in average to get em ;)

They are rare, so if you're just doing it for the diary, I would suggest using mangled bones, as the mangled bones are a 100% drop i think, at least i got one on my first kill.

But if you really want one, I have no idea, as the only mith dragon i ever killed was for the diary =/

I estimate that I've killed around 100-200 mithril dragons, and I've only gotten 1 chewed bone drop, if that is any help to you. In other words, you'd have to really try to get them. I don't know why you would want them, since the reward isn't very good (most likely trash drop, more likely to get a good drop by killing another mith instead of doing the whole pyre thing, better off doing Ectofuntus for the prayer bonus).

Just so you know, they're chewed bones, not chewy bones. Chewy indicates someone tried to eat them and noticed they required much chewing in order to be swallowed. Chewed means the dragon chewed them.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

When I had waay lower stats, I wasable to kill 2-3 mith drags at a time.

I got a chewed bone on perhapsy 20th kill

so I would say it's all luck

good luck

You mean Chewed bones? XD

Well, i saw a video of someone trying to get a dfh a few weeks after then mithril caverns came out. He killed about 1500 dragons without getting one, and only got 33 sets of chewed bones too.

I think it's better to just use mangled ones. Chewed are a waste of time and money.

Well it seems it just isn't worth the efforts I guess doing all the work.

I did 6 trips yesterday where I could not take out more than 6 per trip. I kept the d bones and now I see I killed 33 mith dragons yesterday.

I got a rune mace & rune battle axe as best drops... I didn't lose money doing the runs since I fished my own sharks, gathered my own ranarr & snapes & I also made my own anti fire pots.

So I just lost alot of time and had to remain very focussed. Anyway, I'll get the mangled bones instead so I don't have to worry anymore. I think it's better money killing blue/green drags than mith drags since yer never sure what you're gonna get from miths, but you do know what pots & food yer gonna waste :(

Thx for the replies about the chewed bones lol...

A Chewy bone drop rate is around 1/30. I think Ring of wealth will help you get one sooner, as Chewy bone gives a chance of Dragon full helm. So the item Chewy bone should be considered a "common rare" (1 in 30 kills are common despite the hardness of killing Mithrils).

And Jagex have said that Ring of wealth helps in getting more common rares.

P.S Very nice avatar, it looks great.

First of all thx for compliment about ava. :)

And yh, I'm not going back anymore... Did it with mangled bones. It's just so boring killing mith drags since they're quite hard imo.

I'll do them if I get them as an assignment though :)
