I havent worked on my mining in some time and I want to get it up to 85. I know that there are power training spots, but I dont want to do that. I want the cash from the ores to help pay for herblore. I know this isnt the best way to make cash and I dont care. All I want to know is if I should invest in d pick or just stick with rune pick?

If you got the money it won't hurt as you can always sell it back when done getting the levels. If you don't have the levels then you can just stick with the rune one.

There isn't much of a change on coal, so if you are mining addy, GET IT

But on the other hand: the money you lose by buying a d pick and later selling it with loss will probably exceed the profit you make by mining slightly faster...

Once you are L85 mining and you decide to mine by worldhopping it's worth to beat r pick users :)

Thanks all, I am going to give the d pick a whirl and see how it goes. I'll try it for a day or 2 and if it doesnt seem any better than rune to me, i'll get rid of it till 85 minig.

If you don't got a [cabbage]load of money and 90+ Mining, i wouldnt say its worth it.. :mellow:

Dragon Pickaxe only comes in handy if you are loaded with cash and got a strick timeline for 99. There are none really noteable experience differences, but its a tad faster.

Personal expierence. I found that with d pick at around 75 mining, coal mines as fast as iron with rune pick, if not slightly slower, mith as fast as coal with rune pick, and addy as fast as mith. It is a negliable difference, but I think reading on the RSOF somewhere that the d pick would shave somewhere like 6 hours off of 99 mining. Might of been more, but the junk up is the same between rune hatchet and dragon

So how is it not worth it if obviously it IS faster...may not be an amazing amount, but nonetheless faster. You can sell it back afterwards if you like and guess what...very minimal loss with possible profit. That seems very worth it to me?

So that would be "No, I have NOT done any actual timed testing".

 

When you have, and long enough to get around small sample size error, *then* you can make grand pronouncements about it -- not before.

 

If nothing else, the d pick is 15% faster on pure essence than the rune pick. And since essence mines at a consistent rate, that's a reliable improvement.
