Ulysses
Hi, i have tried ranging with ruby (e) and diamond (e) bolts, but i barely hit 4/5 of Nomad's hitpoint with leech range on. My ranging is only 78, and magic 77. So I kept taking his hits, while not being able to deal any on him. My ranged set up was guthan helm, blk d hide body + chaps, snakeskin boots, barrows gloves, glory, rune xbow, d sq, with ruby and diamond bolts. I bought inventory and tortoise full of super restore and saradomin brew. And was far from succeeding... Nomad KO me with 50 in 1 hit while i was potting. So i am wondering anyone could suggest a set up i can use to melee him, as my melee stats are relatively higher: attack 85, strength 85, defence 91, hp 89, summon 70. I havn't got much cash remaining after my few attempts with ranging, and still need to buy back some super restore + brew... so budget is minimal if possible. I have no bandos, nor godsword or infinity stuff. I have dfs, guthan, verac, whip, z spear, karil.. I really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction (i.e. a melee setup, or perhaps some better ranging technique), i don't mind a few more attempts, as this is actually a grandmaster quest...except this fight is way harder than anything i had imagined...way beyond WGS and Blood Runs Deep.... (Meanwhile i should calm myself down...resolve my stress and take a break...) 'Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.' T.S. Eliot
JoeDaStudd
The general method is the same setup only with a whip+rune defender or a GS with a spec weapon. Take the range gear so that you can still damage him when he freezes you. chaosoffar
Well my stats are a bit higher but I used Zammy Spear, black dhide, neitz helm, etc. For inventory took extreme att and str,2 brews, 3 super ppots, a super restore, and the rest rocktails and rocktails in my yak. When I beat him(1st time) I had 12 rocktails, 1 dose super restore, 1 dose each extreme, and 2 super ppots left. I prayed soul split and turmoil used the zammy spear on stab/accurate and didn't worry about dodging damage just made sure to eat up when I knew a 75 or 98 hit was coming. I don't consider the way I killed him efficient as I didn't range at all or dodge any damage which could possibly make it a decent bit easier(perhaps offsetting lower stats). I figured if I died the first time I'd probably have added a range weapon, maybe increased the number of brews, and try to dodge the 75 damage attack. Ulysses
i can't use extreme pots, but even if i pot up with super att + str or range pot, it won't take long for me to have to take another sip after brew + restore... is that why range is preferred over melee? (beside from the freezing attack) 'Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.' T.S. Eliot

Another question to add to the post: are rocktails better or saradomin brews? - rocktails don't lower offensive stats but don't heal as much (as far as i know). (I just got killed again from a ruby bolts effect + nomad strike.) 'Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.' T.S. Eliot
Tact
From General Discussion:I just beat the nomad. Stats: 90 attack90 strength88 defense92 hitpoints82 range96 magic70 prayer67 summoning (got it just for this quest) 60 herblore 120 combat Equipped: Full melee voidDragon daggerRune defenderUntrimmed skill capeDragon bootsBroad boltsFury In Inventory: WhipRune crossbow1 Prayer potion (4)12 Sara brews (4)6 Super restores (4)Rest was rocktail Also had a tortoise full of rocktail, with left click option set to withdraw BOB. I took 1 sip of a super set and ate a rocktail at the bank. Went down, prayed piety, and used up my dds specs. Then I switched to whip, and hammered away. During the fight, I ate the rocktail first to conserve my boosted melee stats, and withdrew as needed from my tortoise. Prayer potion ran out at about the same time my rocktails did. As soon as he started charging for his 2nd attack (the one that hits 75), I ran south of of minefield then due east to behind a pillar. No need to hide before then. While hiding, I took the opportunity to eat/pot. During freezing attack, I switched to rune cbow and eagle eye prayer, and used dds specs whenever the spec bar got above 50%. When he went in beserker mode, I also switched on protect melee prayer. Other than that, it's mainly sipping pots when you need it; most of the time I kept my hp above 32. Void works because the 15% to accuracy and damage really helps, and its magic defense isn't too shabby. I tested void range before my successful fight, and it works well too. Good luck to you all. Robert_R
This works: I wore full d hide, ardy cape 3, z spear, barrows gloves, d boots, glory and no ring. I brought 4 prayer potions, 1 super set, full inventory of rocktails, unicorn scrolls, one unicorn pouch, and filled my tortoise with rocktail. I just tanked him for all of his attacks EXCEPT the one that hits 75. When he said "lets make things interesting I ran behind the pillar so he would run close to me and I could attack him right next to the pillar. Then when he says "you can't hide from my wrath" (he teleports close to his chair when he says this) run behind the pillar again ,heal/pot if you need to, and his attack will miss you. Once he goes into crazy mode just put on protect from melee and piety/turmoil and tank the rest. Rocktails>brews for melee so you can keep your stats boosted and kill him faster... much faster. Died 8 times with ruby bolts using full inventorys of brews and tort of brews then tried it once with z spear and killed him using 27 rocktails and 2 prayer potions. Sir_Squab
I find range easier not only for the freezing, but because it's easier to dodge the 75 attack, as when he does it I can already be out of the way of the mines. I used brews and restores and a tort full of them all. Something you should know: His attack splashes on you when it fails. That means it is a magic attack. Karils and ranged gear helps minimize the damage, as well as using deflect mage and sap mage. My first tries ranging I could hardly damage him, but it went much better when I tried high magic defence. (Karils, fury, snakeskin boots, guthix coin, rune c-bow, mage's book.) And accumulator. And rube e bolts. I simply ranged him and used potions when I needed. Also, I used being frozen to drop empty vials and restock from familiar. If you range with ruby e bolts when frozen, keep hp above maximum, just in case your special attack happens when his does. (I heard a guy die by this, so I prepared for that; at one point, I'm pretty sure I lost hp when his special hit but my hp was 105.) Also, put deflect melee and sap melee on quick prayers. When you get him to beserker mode, you don't (supposedly) have time to restock from familiar, so that's why I do it when frozen. I didn't experience this myself because I emptied my familiar by then. By the way, you should at least CONSIDER getting 80 prayer before you kill him. I don't know how much of a difference leech defence does, but I bet it'd do something. Well, that was my strategy. I hope you figure out one that works for you. (My magic level is 94, so that may also have reduced some of his hits...) I recommend practicing on him, with cheap food until your well-able to deal with his attacks, if you aren't already. Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. Gravy
Beat this fight earlier today, main mistake was wearing melee armour. I strongly recommend you wear a full mage defense setup. Zam Spear was a huge help, and oddly enough, DDS for spec's was insane - I noticed frequent 30-30+ specials. Stab option of course. I used like, 32 brews + 10 res and 1 sup set, numbers might not be accurate on brews, but definatly alot. Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.
