How do I buy a phat?

I've looked into buying a green phat for a year, but I just don't understand the street market prices. When I look on RSOF, I see offers like "trading purple + easter" or "purple + 22 mints". I know what the offers are (easter is edible easter egg, etc.), but I'm really confused over the street prices. I haven't been able to get a straight answer, like green phat is 450M street or something, so it seems to me the price is whatever the seller wants it to be rather than something stable like before the GE. So what would be a good offer?

 

It sounds so stupid when I reread it, so be kind to a newbie rare buyer. :P

You will most likely want to get hold of something like an easter egg or mint cakes if you want to buy a partyhat, unless you have a large amount of cash like 500m+? Not sure.

 

Purple partyhat is like easter+cash I think.

Green is like easter+mints(30)+cash or purple+easter.

Basically, you can't buy a phat at the GE price - all cash.

 

The street price is basically what people accept, not low-balling or seem outrageous.

 

The tools used for sellers of phats are...

+ junk Upto the street price in a face to face TRADE.

 

 

The tools used for buyers of phats are...

accept amount of junk and pay the TRADE price. (afterall you are doing it the traditional way)

or

offer cash + edible upto the phat price only* depends what edible you have. From cheapest to pricy-iest: mint, easter, and pumpkin.

 

This is because GE price doesn't reflect the so called 'economic'/ "worth" of discontinued items.

Lol, this is so confusing. I can afford to get a couple edibles, but I'd have to work for the remaining cash while the price keeps going higher. At least I have a better understanding of how rare trade works, so much thanks.

So using this and assuming easters are 200M ea (can be more depending on junk) then it seems the street price for these phats are:

Purple = 425M

Green = 625M

So to buy either of these hats you will either need that much in street value of items, or that much cash, but people are rarely willing to accept cash so if you want to buy with pure cash you will need a good amount extra just to even get people to consider your offer.

Purple is like 350-400m if you're paying pure cash for purple+junk, but very few phat sellers have that kind of junk. It's much easier to buy easter+junk and then trade the easter for your partyhat of choice.

 

Purple + a few mints = easter + cash

Green = egg + 30 mints + cash

yellow = 2 eggs

Red = pumpkin

 

I'm not too sure on white or blue, as they're rarely traded.

You could also play gnome delivery. For the time being, Mint Cakes have a street of 4-5m, and you can get one every 90 minutes on average (that's mine out of 9 cakes), on top of about 600-800k profit per hour without special items.

Another way to buy phats without dealing with the hassle of street prices is to get your buy offer for max in right after the GE updates and the price of that phat changes. There are a number of IRC bots that will send out messages as soon as GE updates. The sooner you get your offer in the higher priority it will be, and if you get in quick offers a few times you're likely to eventually get one.
