A question of etiquette

I cannot stand killing monsters in the same area as someone else.

If I get to a spot and someone is there, I hop. If someone comes to my spot I usually ask them nicely to leave - if they don't I weigh loss of productivity caused by them being there vs just giving up and hopping worlds.

Most of the time I kill monsters in a way that I use ALL of the spawns... anyone killing any of them will slow me down,

Like SxqPower said, I am a person who typically uses all the spawns and needs a world with a 1.5k+ population to kill them efficiently. If I am there first I always stand my ground, if I come upon someone training and they ask me nicely to hop, I will; otherwise I will crash them for the spot because I believe competition is healthy.

This person may have thought you to be a notorious player of similar name who was banned some months ago.

But other than that, you shouldn't really threaten ignores when someone isn't saying anything... I ignore people for that.

Also, I get bored and leave if I am the only person at a training spot. Just isn't interesting for me then. Please stay.

Do you mean you're actually aware of someone with a name like Dragon Sam being banned, or just guessing?

It depends. Chaos druids don't have much hp, and since the both of you have decent stats and are using fast-firing weapons, I can imagine how 5 spawns is not enough to go around. Tbh, I doubt that the other person went directly from asking you to leave to saying "I'm going to put you on my ignore list." If I were in that situation, I would have hopped. It's the decent thing to do, and both people will great more xp and drop than if you were fighting over the druids.

True, they're only lvl 13 and something like 20 hp, so we were each taking three hits at most to make a kill. We were both getting 'Someone else is already attacking that' often, but equally we could immediately click on another as soon as we got that message.

For me the test is, did it stop me or him making money? I made over 300k - I think it was over 320k - in the hour. He was attacking faster than me, so he should have made about the same, allowing a little variation for luck in picking up dwarf weeds and ranarrs. As far as I know we both made the amount of coins I'd expect to make if there was no-one else there. When I'm on my own there I can't kill them and pick up the drops any faster than I was then - I tested and my average doing it alone is just over 300k. You might kill four in a row, but picking up the drops and rejecting worthless stuff still takes time so all four have respawned by the time you've done that.

I don't know on what basis you doubt my honesty about how this guy went to ignore. TBH, that's pretty rude of you. I went off to the bank to deposit my first load, when I came back and was picking the lock he said 'Leave me alone'. When I went in and started killing druids he said 'Please leave me alone'. When I didn't react he said 'I'm putting you on my ignore list'. The three statements were all within one minute. Doubt as much as you like, that's what happened and I can't imagine why I'd make it up.

I rarely hop when I'm training in a competitive spot and regularly compete with other people for training spots. If I'm at a spot and someone comes and interferes, I don't really care. The way I see it is if they're the ones that care so much, they should hop.

Okay, so I wanted to get money, so i went off to that chaos druid tower just north of Ardougne. I think there are four or five druids spawning there continually, and giving all herbs except perhaps snapdragons, so it's an easy place to pick up two or three hundred thousand coins an hour.

When I got there another player was already inside doing the same. I didn't think that was a problem; plenty to go around. But when I came back after my first bank run to deposit the herbs I'd collected this other player repeatedly said 'Please leave me alone' and then 'I have you on my ignore list'. (NB My account is QuickChat only).

When he said 'I have you on my ignore list' I said 'Okay' - like, I really don't mind. But evidently this guy thought it was really mean of me to come along and try to make money in an area where he was already doing the same. I found this pretty surprising. I mean, throughout my year and a bit of playing I've had people jump my mining spot, for instance. It just seems it's the way of the game that people are sometimes competing for the same resources. But what seemed odder was that he said it about a location where two people can easily collect money together and still both get 300K an hour; it isn't like my being there was really stopping him do what he wanted.

Even though this other guy was lvl93, and so quite a bit lower than me, he had Void Knight on and was using throwing knives, where I had Karil's and was using the bow with bolt-racks. That is, he was attacking faster than me, so if he did think of it in terms of competition, he'd get the kill first every time.

Was he just oversensitive, or was it really bad form for me to jump in?

The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

I rarely hop, even if He was there first. I'm content to just stand next to one single respawn point - especially when the particular monster respawns every 8-9 seconds (usually on full worlds) - and kill them as they reappear.

Aside from that, it depends on the other guy. If the other guy(s) a __level 85 w/ rune armor and rune scimitar____, I'm more likely to just stay. He'll probably struggle killing just one of the _greater demons____ there. On the other hand, if it's a __level 136 w/full Bandos, Saradomin godsword, and a pack yak_______, I'd be more likely to world-hop, even if I was there first. He'd just clear-cut that whole area. I'm not gonna waste time trying to work around a bulldozer.

When slaying, I usually hop if someone is there first. If someone tries to crash me, I turn on piety and force them out. Like Sxq Power and RSW44, I need every spawn in a room to be at max efficiency, so I don't tolerate other people moving in on my spawns.

I love being competitive in this game. I used to enjoy battling other players for gold ore spawns.
