Jard_Y_Dooku
I quit RuneScape a couple weeks ago. I didn't bother to post a goodbye or an announcement of any sort, my monster examine guide's links are all broken, my website has been taken down. I just don't really care enough to play it anymore or even enough to depart with telling anyone. But I suppose some of you will know now. The main reason I quit is because I don't feel like it and it annoys me in many ways. The other reason is to have more time to work on my own MMORPG. I'm also doing a 10-day trial of WoW and possibly the same for some other MMOs to see what the differences are (RuneScape is the only MMO I've played). So this first part might seem irrelevant but I was thinking of some interesting new ideas for this MMO I am working on, and I was wondering how you think this might work in RuneScape. A chemistry skill, which would allow you to make things like nitroglycerin, and use them as weapons, or to cut down trees. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zV86hPBoIYc Quite a radical idea, but just imagine being able to toss vials of nitroglycerin at your enemies to blast them apart! For mining this could be especially useful. You could toss a vial into an area of rocks, and after it explodes, ores would appear on the ground which you could then pick up. For balancing, nitroglycerin would be expensive but very effective. I believe nitroglycerin is also very flammable... perhaps an addition to firemaking as well? Even woodcutting, although it would seem to destroy most of the wood. :P I also noticed several things playing WoW the past couple days that I thought were fairly interesting. For one, the way food and healing works. You restore health when not in combat, which makes sense... closer to the way healing works in real life. And eating food restores so much health over a period of time rather than instantly, which makes much sense. You can swim through any body of water (as far as I've encountered), too. Its user interface also has a lot more information, which I think is something RuneScape could greatly improve upon. This may seem contradictory, but I hate the monster examine spell. It shouldn't need to exist. Numerical hitpoints could easily be displayed over a monster's HP bar, and statistical data such as max hits, immunity to poison and slayer monster could simply be in an online bestiary on runescape.com. It makes little sense to have a spell that in some ways breaks the fourth wall. PS - I don't intend to become a full time WoW player. Just exploring it for a week. I think game design is very interesting, because we must realize a game is software also, and we must apply similar design principles as application software. How much time do we spend trying to calculate our max hits? How much time have we spent on the combat formula before finally finding it? Too much. Maybe it seems like I am rambling about 20 different things, but you must remember, I am a computer, and I never defrag my brain. So what do you guys think about nitroglycerin as a weapon or mining tool, and other radical ideas like that? Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.
Howlin0001
No. I think it would change RuneScape too much. A skill like that.
decebal
Shouldn't this be in suggestions? And just to let you know, in WoW after a while of swimming "fatigue" will come in, making you lose hp.
Shelby_Polo
Chemistry is to "out there" as far as runescape is concerned. You do have some good ideas for it though. Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!

And just to let you know, in WoW after a while of swimming "fatigue" will come in, making you lose hp. I know, it seems a very logical way to implement it. It's interesting to see how different MMOs do things. Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler. Zaaps1
I think it would be better added as a Herblore add-on than an actual skill. ~It's Super Effective! (The Zaaps Blog)~My YouTube Channel, where you get to watch me go around and make a fool out of myself and all comp capersGuides:~Yeah I wrote them once~Suggestions:~Yeah I made those once~
quelmotz
At that time "Chemistry" was more "Alchemistry". Anyway, as Zaaps said, I think it would be better as an update to herblore/firemaking than an entirely new stand-alone skill. After all, isn't that what herblore/alchemistry is all about? Mercifull
Fishing explosive A Fishing explosive is a Slayer item used for luring Mogres out of the water Super Fishing Explosive Same as Fishing Explosives except is causes 15 damage to the Mogre as it becomes lured. These items are similar to what you have mentioned but the one below is the closest... Holy water Holy water is a powerful Ranged weapon that is used just like throwing knives and darts You have interesting ideas but they could work just as well as a herblore addition than a new skill.
