So today i took a break from working on defence and went out to barrows. I thought maybe i could break my dry streak but im not able to so im wondering if im doing something wrong...108 dry chests without an item is this normal???What changes can i make to my inventory to get more runs per trip and possible make a little profit because right now im losing money on every trip getting nothing but junk runes and very little coins.

Heres my setup:

Helm:Neitiznot

Amulet:Glory

Plate: Prossy

Legs:Prossy

Boots:Dragon

Gloves:Barrows

Cape:Obsidian cape

Weapon: Blk sally

Ammo:Harralander Tar

Invo:

5 prayer potion(3)

House teleport tabs

Dragon Dagger(P++)

Spade

Dragon Sq Shield(for tunnels and getting KC up)

Pure Set

Rest food with 4 open spaces for opening the chest

It's all luck based.

Your setup and inventory has nothing to do with what you loot.

Ditto.

What makes you think that drops are based on invo and setup? Other than a ROF there's nothing else in the game that improves one's chance of getting a better drop.

Ok i never said it had anything to do with my invo first off so dont start flaming me for that. I want to know if there is any changes i can make to my invo to get more trips per run and possibly make a little profit because right now im losing a lot of money doing this.

This has nothing to do with your post, so sorry in advance, but maybe consider taking (4) dose Prayer potions, rather than so many (3) dose.

:)

Also, from what I've gathered, the loot is all entirely random. Not even a ROW affects the loot, I think. Also, I'm not sure how it compares to an Obby cape, but I ended up switching to a God cape, to increase my Magic attack bonus.

I also ended up switching from Prossy to Guthans. Helps me heal up in the tunnels and saves me from having to eat food that I'd otherwise need whilst fighting the individual brothers.

[hide=My Setup]Helm: Neitiznot

Amulet: Glory

Plate: Guthan's

Legs: Guthan's

Boots:Dragon

Gloves: Black spiked vambs (yeah... these fail, but it's all I have at the moment :P)

Cape: Zamorak cape

Weapon: Black sally

Ammo: Harralander Tar

Ring: ROL

Invent:

Dragon dagger (p++)

Unholy book

Whip

Spade

Guthan's spear

Guthan's helm

x4 Prayer potion(4)

Monkfish

House teleport tabs

2 empty slots[/hide]

I'm very, very, very new to Barrowing, so I'm sure this isn't the best method or setup. I'm just sharing :)

Thank you Serpent, I have the Ardy cloack 3 which gives a +6 pray bonus so do you think it would be better to use this over the obby cape?I Also have the Falador shield 3 which even though has a low def gives a +7 pray bonus so would that be good to swap out with the d sq even though i only use a shield in the tunnels?

Depends. How many of the brothers do you pray on?

I personally bring 3 p pots but I only use them If i get Dh tunnel because I only pray Karil and Dh and I can kill them well before my prayer runs out.

Prayer bonus doesn't help much since most of the prayer drain is from the barrows effect anyway. I'd go for the cape with most def bonuses or a god cape if you got a low mage bonus (lower than -20 or something).

Besides that, it's all luck and if you stick to it you should get a drop soon.

I'm only praying Dharok, Karil, and Ahrim.

Like I said, I was originally using Prossy to extend prayer, but it was taking a toll on my max hits, so I switched to Guthans instead.

I really don't mind using an extra Prayer potion or two. At this stage in the game, I get about 4-5 runs in before I have to bank. Still trying to perfect my method myself.

Kinda just got to trial-and-error and see what works for you. I've had about three friends give me detailed tips on their methods, and I'm picking bits and pieces from their advice and doing what works best for me and my stats.

With your def level, you could probably try to no pray karil if you change your pure set to a super set (good idea anyway) and use 2-3 dds specs on him to kill him quickly.

Also yes, for tanking the brothers you dont'use prayer on you should bring a barrows top/bottom.

You might want to consider armour/food instead of prayer potions if your losing money. I keep my prayer exclusively for dharok. (I use it on other people if I have it though) Veracs has worked well for me in barrows, between the defensive and prayer bonuses. I tend to make profit every round (not that I keep track) even without a barrow item.

I also to 1 run trips, to save on prayer pots, but recently I've considered changing this.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Well, as long as you're killing all the brothers, nothing really would be effecting your loots

One thing I will say, prayer boosting items aren't exactly usefull, since your prayer is getting drained regularly, your prayer loss can't really be changed here. When I go, I take full guthan with a salamander. The armour protects me well from Torag and Guthan to the point that I never use prayer on them. And I don't eat as much food because I can heal in the tunnel.

Even without getting a barrows item, loosing money is extremely rare for me, I almost always make money even if I only get runes.

Order I'm killing in:

  1. Dharok: Pray Melee, attack using Black sally set to Blaze

  2. Karil: Pray Missles, DDS spec x4 + Unholy book, switch to Whip after using DDS specs

  3. Ahrim: Pray Mage, attack using Black sally set to Flare

    * If I get Karil tunnel, I DDS spec x4 + Unholy book on Ahrim, then switch to Sally set to Flare. More often than not, the specs fail, but it's worth trying. Besides, since I'm getting Ahrim done earlier, my spec bar has time to charge back up before I get to Karil in the tunnels.

  4. Guthan: No pray, attack using Black sally set to Blaze

  5. Torag: No pray, attack using Black sally set to Blaze

  6. Verac: No pray, attack using Black sally set to Blaze
