Kimberly
So for those who haven't checked the news post today, Jagex has announced that February is Clan Celebration Month. (The newspost on runescape.com can be found here and the link to the discussion topic in General Discussion can be found here) The main faces of Jagex to the clan community, mainly Mod Timbo and his 'cohorts' , put a lot of love and time into it. Painstakingly, they tried to make sure the festivities appealed to all, whether they be combat, warring, pking, skilling, marketing, or minigame-based. The month is filled with Q&A sessions, interviews, events, and everything else that's sure to set the RSOF'ers in a tizzy... But those who go to fansites to satisfy their 'clanning fix' might have something else to say. All things are preliminary, of course. It's not even February yet, and this is the very first time they've done anything like this--save for the clan blog, which just started not too long ago. God willing, they'll be listening for objective feedback, from first impressions to overall reviews afterward. So how about those first impressions, then? What do you think of the concept Clan Celebration month?: How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?: Do you think your clan will participate? Why?:
armybuilder
What do you think of the concept Clan Celebration month?:Tbh i think its nice to celebrate clans. Both clans mentioned in this months deserved it very much. How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?:Meh im not sure howmuch thats going to work. I mean this one was very much about clans length of time. What next time?? Major fights?? If there not careful they will run out of things to appeal to the whole clan community and will just focus on certain parts of it. Do you think your clan will participate? Why?: No idea. Jack
What do you think of the concept Clan Celebration month?:It's an interesting idea for sure, but once again I'm not sure Jagex know what we really want and could be making updates that are of much more benefit to us. However recognition of the clan world can only help us though. How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?:It's an interesting approach to attract attention, but I'm not too sure they know what they're doing to really appeal to everyone. Do you think your clan will participate? Why?: I don't think so, mainly because we'd like to focus on the TICT for now and I doubt very much that there will be events that will appeal to all of my members, if there are events that do appeal then I can't see why we wouldn't go though. Danny_TeamDan
What do you think of the concept Clan Celebration month?:Cool but in general it's promoting CWA, but hey I think it's pretty hard to go from never clanning to pvp and CWA is almost needed to learn the basics now. How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?:no clue. Do you think your clan will participate? Why?: Potentially, RIP TICT '10 if Jagex plan their own tourny since all the clans would focus on those fights instead imo.
QuitsTerror
Sounds generally like a waste of time, we might go for it but I guess it depends if it's in the wilderness.
Nobody
Sounds kind of... plastic to me. More like a half hearted attempt rather than any real sort of effort. People have been going on for the longest time what they want not sure what this is other than a publicity stunt. With love to one, friendship to many, and good will to all. If there not careful they will run out of things to appeal to the whole clan community and will just focus on certain parts of it.Do you think your clan will participate? Why?:No idea. It's celebrating all types of clans, not just The Sabres and whoever else they interviewed. From what it looks like, they actually did try to come up with a wide range of events (they're on the forums.) They have skilling, industry, and PvP events, live clan Q&A, and forum based Q&A. That's a lot of time to take out of their schedules. But because of the sheer volume of people they're going to attract, everything's just going to be noise IMO. Sounds kind of... plastic to me. More like a half hearted attempt rather than any real sort of effort. People have been going on for the longest time what they want not sure what this is other than a publicity stunt. According to a clan leader who had posted on the other thread, they've been planning this for at least two months. Bouncing ideas off of the clan leader board on the RSOF and whatnot. I would give something precious to find out how those discussions went, and how many non-RSOF clans actually gave feedback to that.
RedAnarchy
What do you think of the concept Clan Celebration month?:Meh, doubt many clans outside RSB would participate. How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?:No Idea. Do you think your clan will participate? Why?: I don't know yet. How would you gauge Jagex's ability to appeal to their very broad clan community?: I don't think they have the ability to appeal to everyone. Do you think your clan will participate? Why?: No idea. kuru72
Interesting. I know they want to help us but I hope they don't make their own tournament though. I don't want TICT to fail 'cause of that. :wall: I'm really expecting the TICT to be interesting and amazing and I don't want it to be ruined. I hope that this time Jagex use their brains before they make another mistake..... :-# Retired on: June 30, 2010
19jacksparow
I think it's about time that jagex did something about this. I find it kind of funny how people complained that jagex did no promoting for clans before and now that jagex is they are still complaining that they aren't putting enough effort. In the past couple months Jagex has tried lots of things to make the clan world more popular within runescape by allowing people to advertise fan sites to find about the clan world and allowing clan-like spam. Sure they can do other things by letting clans advertise their websites. But atleast they are doing something to advertise clans.
