Man crashes plane in IRS building in Austin, TX

Featured Replies

Look as though he had a problem with the IRS. Apperentaly he set his own house on fire, then went to a local airport, took off in a plane he is registered to fly, and crashed it into the IRS building. Highly unlikely that it was a act of terrorism. As of right now, there are no deaths and few injuries to report. However one person in the building is unaccounted for.

A suicide note that he left on his website was just found.

The last line is very chilling.

Reading his note, I wish that man would've instead decided to educate others instead of taking his life *sigh*

This happened across the street from where my brother works. :-?

He didn't see it, but he heard the crash.

Dang, what a coincidence.

I'm honestly surprised (and very glad) that no one but the man was killed. Having first read that a plane crashed into a building, I would assume the 15 closest people to that window would be killed. I'm thinking the front of the plane is blunt, but perhaps explosions?

Other than that, I have nothing else to say. What can the government do about this incident anyway? Surely if millions of others can pay their taxes and have no trouble with the IRS, then this man is just troubled if he couldn't figure out how to fix his own problems.

It definitely made me LOL.

Just goes to show we have a lot of half-cracked people out in the world.

I am glad that nobody got killed (well he did but still). I sorta agree with him to a level; I do believe our government is corrupt, perhaps not as much as what he considered it to be, give a human power , and corruption will occur almost always in some form.

Wow, this is a very ironic post considering what you just said in the suicide thread.

I read the whole thing, pretty interesting stuff. That's the way I'd probably go out haha.

A better way to of gone is kill the higher ups of the IRS. Give him and us a break.

I was scared [cabbage]less when I saw this on CNN. Me and other theater people were eating lunch, when all of a sudden all the headlines stopped and there was a report that a plane had crashed into a building in Austin, supposedly intentionally. We didn't learn more for like ten minutes, and they didn't specify how big of a plane, injuries, how big of a building, or anything. We were scared that it was some sort of new 9/11 in Austin.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

His last line is an add-on to a play written by Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice. There's a Jew in there who's hated by all the Christians. He had a pact with someone that he would take a pound of someone's flesh if that person didn't return his loaned money on time. Being a Jew in that time, he was hated on and wasn't given his pound of flesh. At the end of the play, he's unheard of. His response is very typical of an add-on reference of what happened to Shylock after the play. One major theme is that he takes his own pound of flesh (or he gives it to Antonio, the dude he gave the loan to) in retribution to the "Mr. Big Brother" Christians.

It's awesome how I know that. :D

... Very sad of course... Very sad...

*holds straight face* Good thing no one got hurt though.

i was acctually gonna post about that being from the Merchant of Venice lol not a Shakespeare fan but I was able to get thru the movie with my sister.

Also from what I got from the movie the Jew demanded the flesh several times but was asked to show mercy and refused several times, the only reason he finally gave mercy was because of a loophole that made his "pound of flesh" demand impossible. So i think it has deeper meaning to it.

God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND

" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done."

I'm waiting for one of the political parties to use it to cast blame on the other, or for it to be labeled as terrorism (it's not).

I thought that was a rather interesting read...can't even imagine what sort of stuff I'd write if I knew I was going to die (suicide or otherwise).

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

I caught this live on the news earlier -- so I sat and watched carefully, just to see if the steel and concrete building collapsed entirely within 20 minutes ...

If you're going to write a suicide note, just quote Andrew Ryan. It'll at least sound relevant, even if it has nothing to do with the situation.
