Dags vs. Yaks for range xp

I want to get 85 range, the problem being...I hate range. So I bought some cballs and now I'm currently at yaks with a cannon and black knives (using up the random arrows in my bank first, but will be using black knives). While I was here, I was thinking, would Dags be faster range xp with a cannon than yaks? Or are yaks still the fastest?

dags are faster but they both suck go chin

At 76 range? I'd do what you're doing cannoning dags till 85, then decide if you want to chin or not.

Chins are probably best over 90+ ranging, otherwise they are too expensive. In Dags vs yaks, the key is multicombat. Multicombat ways are where the cannon truly shines in terms of massive exp per hour. Cannon are okay in single ways, if you can safespot. I've noticed that in singleways, if you are not actively being attacked, the cannon tends to fire at any monsters in range. So in a choice between dags and yaks, I would say dags. Watch your health though, dags can take down your health very quickly if you let your attention lapse.

Chinning is still decent at medium range levels...

Yaks and Dags are really just like 50k an hour while chinning is like 75k at that level I would say.

Actually, I went to Dags after the above posters (including yourself) said dags over yaks, and with the cannon and black knives, I was getting around 77k/hr. It was about 65k/hr at yaks. These are with cannon, mind you.

Don't forget that you can also cannon Aberrant Spectres. Idk about the exp/hr but i do know that you can still profit. Most of my exp came from cannoning tasks.

Personally the only place I would train with a cannon would be walliski.

Its nice range exp/hour (about 80k/hour last trip), you can get most of your money back in drops and its a nice amount of blue charms per hour (about 30 blues and 25 crimsons per hour)

[hide=Drops]

  • Dragon Axe x11
    Berserker Ring x9
    Warrior Ring x8
    Seercull

    Granite Maul x 3

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

Would you need any special set-up for them? About how many cballs do you go through an hour?

Something you might want to try is to cannon Scarabites. It's fantastic charms, but a bit on the expensive and risky side.
