March 9, 201016 yr I was doing a scholarship essay on whether or not the government should use social networking sites like facebook or twitter to relay information to the private sector, and I was wondering what tifer's thought. I think it's more accessible most government websites and probably a lot cheaper, but a certain amount of control is given to the administrators of the website who could change info. March 9, 201016 yr Many Congressmen already use Twitter. Some even Tweet during sessions, although I'm not sure it's allowed anymore. Considering it's free, I'm all for the government using any means necessary to inform the public. Information is power. Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew
March 9, 201016 yr The government wouldn't want to use social networking sites to relay anything but information that has absolutely no importance but sounds good. If it was something that actually affected us, they'd hide it behind walls of bureaucracy. More like bureaucrazy! catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

March 10, 201016 yr Not going to lie, this is one of the most [developmentally delayed]ed things I've ever heard. It makes no sense to why the government would EVER trust social media to relay information to private sectors.

It makes no sense to why the government would EVER trust social media to relay information to private sectors. They would post the things themselves so I don't see why it' so horrible the worst that could happen is they get hacked. God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... March 10, 201016 yr "Just plugging in the nuclear launch codes in all the slots..."What's hidden under your CTRL+V?"42608984. Oh [cabbage]." Nah, I don't know. Don't have much of an opinion for this really; Congressmen already do it. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
March 10, 201016 yr Well, 4chan making the white house proclaim a national state of emergency on facebook wouldn't be the best thing. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
March 10, 201016 yr Legislators using Twitter/some other site in order to give updates to the public? Sure, that's fine. The Government stops using their current websites in order to use Facebook for all of their information. Hell no! That's the most [developmentally delayed]ed thing that I have ever heard!! It's not like their websites cost much anyway, so it's a pretty moot point to argue that they're better off using social networking sites. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

It makes no sense to why the government would EVER trust social media to relay information to private sectors. They would post the things themselves so I don't see why it' so horrible the worst that could happen is they get hacked. The thing is that they can't get hacked. If they got hacked they would receive all sorts of negative criticism and one thing any government does not like is negativity. I also think some of you are missing the key term private sector as in corporations not owned/run by the government. Personally if anyone resulted to relaying important information social media they are idiots. Not everything needs to be in the public domain. There is also enough attention on political actions here in the US that if anything important happens it is already posted by creditable news sources and most often shared through social networks, which in the end is better for the people and the government. The answer is not social networking.
March 10, 201016 yr For some reason I really don't see this working... The China government hates social networking sites anyway, so meh. BlogTrimmed | Master Quester | Final BossBoss pets: Bombi | Shrimpy | Ellie | Tz-Rek Jad | Karil the Bobbled | Mega Ducklings120s: Dungeoneering | Invention

The jobs website that tracks created jobs/saved jobs cost around 18 million dollars to fund, and created 3 jobs. LOL Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Oscar Wilde
March 11, 201016 yr I say if the chinese government doesn't like it, lets do it. Anything to piss off the asians, makes me happy to see an angry one, so funny funny. OT I wouldn't care so much cause I'd have to follow/be friends with their profiles which I don't care to do lol
