March 23, 201016 yr I have bandos chestplate and its nice for str, however ive had d plate once but didnt really use it for fighting. Looks like if you want str but little less def then bandos, however if ur tankin or need as much possable def then dpl8. The d pl8s range def is very nice compared to bandos chestpl8, dont know if u would use that often tho. Im P2P 98% of rs players have attempted a scam. If I wanted a defensive piece of armour, I'd never even think of the dplate: torag platebody has better stats and it's under 600k in ge. Bando's plate doesn't even look good in my opinion.Point is I have money to blow on Bandos and I also own a set of Barrows (Verac's Skirt, Dharok's Platebody) which gives me all the best options I need. Dragon Platebody is in the middle of these two as it has worse defensive bonuses than Barrows and does not contain a strength bonus like Bandos. Hence Dragon Platebody is useless to me, I have everything I need in the other two sets.

March 24, 201016 yr The dragon plate is garbage. If you can't afford a bcp, you should be using a fighter torso or something else. And if you're slaying, you should either be using pros half the time anyway to piety/turmoil through tasks. Honestly, the dragon plate was dead on arrival. I don't know what Jagex was thinking waiting to release it for so long, since it never even got a brief period of glory like the early dragon gear.

March 24, 201016 yr What a stupid comparison. Dragon plates are completely and utterly useless. If you need defense, use barrows. If you're high enough level to not need as much defense, use Bandos. It's simple. A proselyte top is better and more useful than the dragon platebody in all applicable situations. Do I sense that the OP is feeling buyer's remorse, and is trying to justify himself by making this thread? Resell the plate and buy a real platebody, OP. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
March 25, 201016 yr The thing about the Dragon Platebody looking far better than a Bandos Chestplate is your opinion (I personally think BCP looks much better, but that's not the complete reason I bought it). The fact is, when you're 90 Defence and barely ever get hit, you don't need high defence bonuses - you need higher strength bonuses. And an extra 10m is fine when you have money to burn. Right, the fact that it's free means it's bad because expensive things are more important.... wait, doesn't that kick your whole d plate argument in the face? >_> Fighter torso is +4 str, d plate is +0. That makes the torso infinitely more useful for training. The d plate is a terrible value. To say Dragon plate never had it's 'brief period of glory' is ridiculous. When the d plate *finally* came out, it wasn't undisputed top gear like the d square or d med which were both, at one point, the best option available. Instead when the d plate came out it:A ) Didn't have the highest defense rating (thanks to barrows)B ) Didn't have the highest defense rating even among non-degrading items (thanks to 3rd age)C ) Lacked a str stat like bandos & a fighter torso If you're training, your best opt is something with a strength bonus to get higher exp per hour. If you're slaying, your best opt is either pros for piety/turmoil or something with a str bonus for higher exp per hour (unless you're ranging or using magic). If you're bossing, your best opt is something with a very high def value like barrows. There's many people out there who wear this plate. Not the most compelling argument XD Plus it's more low-end players who favor that look. You see very few 130+s wearing d plates.

That's why i own a Dagon Plate ! :) If you're inefficent and just let the npc to repair your barrows body, it is 90k per. By getting assistance or using your own 99 smith you can split it to almost 50%. the 100% -> broken takes roughly 15 hours according to tip.it guide. With the 12,5m gp difference between dragon plate and torag body you should be in combat for over 2000 hours to get to the same. If you are lvl 99 smithing, you can make it to roughly 4k hours. That means that if you don't plan to do solid combat for 167 days non stop, torag body is cheaper purely on price AND it saves your food due the better defense stats. No matter do you value defensive or offensive stats, the only real reason for using a dplate are purely mental reasons: it might look good or give you some other mental satisfaction. Based on efficiency it is worthless. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
