Do You Like RuneScape's Holiday Events?

Featured Replies

Do you like the holiday events in Runescape? Yes or no and why?

Most of them, yes. ;)

They are a fun activity to celebrate the holiday - Runescape style. While I would find the rewards more of an 'extra'. I really enjoy the storylines and graphical spectaculars they conjure up. Halloween and Christmas recently in particular and I for you cannot *wait* to see what lies in store for Easter.

I do wish I was around for the really old events back from 06 and so forth, I would love Easter Bunny Ears, a rubber chicken (<3:), easter ring and all the sorts that I would of loved to experience - but other then that I can't complain.

No. Holiday items promote elitism and do not accurately represent how long you've played. My account has been around since 2001 and yet I don't have bunny ears, a scythe, a yo-yo, etc. Furthermore, the items make the holiday events seem mandatory rather than just fun distractions from the daily grind. I think it's unfair that newer players are unable to own and have fun with some of the items, namely the easter ring and snow globe (I would add rubber chicken, but I don't have one). It's just a bad system, IMO. In my completely biased opinion, if your account was around during the time of an event, you should be able to own that item.

EDIT: As for the events themselves, I think they're nice.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

I'm perhaps somewhere in the middle.

I like the idea of holiday events, and items that show that you played around this or that time.

And of course I like the boost it gives to the community.

My first "holiday event" was the christmas 04, when I got a yo-yo, although the easter the year after was the first one that really was an event.

I liked the older events better (even though I haven't done every event since 04), although I cannot explain why.

I don't like the stories too much of the newer ones, and there are really so many holiday items in the game now.

This is perhaps into what i dislike the most about the holiday events now: There are too many of them. I would say that having an easter and christmas event would be enough. Adding thanksgiving and All saint's eve as well (which both are very close to each other) makes too many of them, which actually improves the feeling of a chore, instead of something fun.

Now for some nostalgia. Remember the easter 05 event? You were supposed to give out eggs to other players. That is the kind of event that I would like, not the semi-quests that we get now. :-}

YESZ.

They are a fun little thing to do, and the reward is nice. :3

I do wish you can still get any holiday item you missed though. They did that with emotes and music, why not items?

I still do them but I know I don't enjoy them as much as I used to. The fact that they have been made into quests now kind of kills the spirit for me. Sure completing given tasks is a quest, but I liked it better when it was unofficial.
