SeanyTheSailor
I got 47 summoning today and have never used a foraging familiar before apart from a beaver which i barely used. But today I used the magpie, and lets just say I've fallen in love. But I'd like to know, would I get more money by using a macaw? God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done."
Dax
I think you earn more with a Magpie. I've used Macaw at Abberants a few times, and not much has come of it. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Aiel
I dont think so, I havent tested it but a magpie seems like it forages more often, and the macaw tends to get low level herbs. DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty). mister_moocky
Macaw hardly forages anything. Use a magpie. quit
anonymouse_
Alright, since OP's question has been answered, how does magpie compare to fruit bat?
qeltar
The best familiar for foraging (value wise) is the magpie. For fighting good herb droppers, the macaw is a must. It makes a HUGE difference: you get about 23% of herbs over ranarr without one, 35% with. That's nearly 50% more high herbs. RangingRoy
When I go woodcutting, I sometimes take a macaw and lots of Herb Call Scrolls. I think they cost about 200 each and each load of yews you get probably 4 or 5 herbs. Even guams make more profit than a yew log.
qeltar
I don't think I'd bother with a macaw at something like abyssals. Just not that many herbs to make it worthwhile; I prefer a beast of burden. I rarely use healing familiars, because in most cases you are better off using a beast of burden. Bunyips overheal me at Abyssal Demons. There aren't any good MC zones to fight them in. A BoB might be better, but I get significantly more lantadymes/dwarf weeds with Macaw. Overall, I estimate its worth at 30k/pouch. A magpie might be better. I piety the fool.
