  1. Take into consideration the cost of getting the Herb level to make the pots, then we can talk about it.
  2. Thanks very much guys, that's shed a bit of light on it. Quite excited now about getting one. I love doing Treasure Trails.
  3. I realise there won't be a hard number, but from your experiences how much rarer are the level 4 scrolls than the level 3 scrolls when coming from Steel Dragons? I have killed roughly 300 steels now and have yet to recieve one of the clue scrolls. Are they visage rare or have I been very unlucky? Just looking for rough estimates based on your experiences.
  4. I'm similar to this. I'm level 93 range and I've never chinned any of it. I'm also not going to chin any of it. I'm going to get a completely natural 99 range, on monsters I enjoy fighting, Steel Drags, Green Drags, Fire Giants etc. Why? Because I am want to enjoy the process of getting to 99. Then when I get 99. I'll pwn the pking world. Twice as much fun from the journey.
  5. What do you expect? The game to completely change every two months? I don't WANT the game to change. My money is well spent in Runescape. The game is constantly improved with bug fixes, and it's already one of the least buggy games I've ever played. It's nice getting new bits and pieces every month or two, but if it changed constantly, we could never keep up.
  6. When I go woodcutting, I sometimes take a macaw and lots of Herb Call Scrolls. I think they cost about 200 each and each load of yews you get probably 4 or 5 herbs. Even guams make more profit than a yew log.
  7. Yeah, there's a lot of topics and examples I which I had to omit, for the sake of trying to remain somewhat concise and to the point w/o going off on too many tangents, unfortunately. Addiction's not really something I wanted to get into... Social psychology is what intrigues me; clinical psychology is just depressing lol. I feel like I'd get 2nd-hand depression or something from pursuing that career path, if that were possible :P You are a smart guy, and to be honest, my expertise (if I can dare to call it that) is in sociology, not psychology. However, I'd like to ask a few questions/make a few points in hope of getting a bit of banter bouncing backwards and forwards. Surely most game models now revolve around grinding. Even something like MW2, which is a pretty standard FPS, has grinding elements to it now. Is this necesserily a bad thing? Some of the most popular (and addictive) games of all time, Counter Strike, as an example, has no grinding. Is it really terrible to spend three hours on runescape working at a goal so that you get your reward? It's a short term goal in runescape terms, but I think for any other hobby or game it's not that long. Why is it a problem that people have to be bored to get their reward. To bring it back to the money point though. [cabbage], right, I've got to go, but I will be back later to finish this post and make some points, great thread though pal!
  8. I love fighting steel dragons! I actually enjoy fighting them. They are ridiculously cheap and easy to fight. Take a couple of pieces of food, 12 anti fire pots, 7 range pots, 1k broad bolts and whatever gear you want. You can poison them if you want. Aim to kill 2 per dose of potion. Remember your alching runes.
  9. Woah, so Furies are worth 90 mil now? That is absolutely bat[cabbage] insane. I had one when they were about 3? And I sold it for 5 or so probably close to a year ago before I took some time off. Holy.
  10. I had three spirit seeds by WC 75... did I get very very lucky or did you get very unlucky?
  11. I'm starting to think that RS drops ARN'T entirely random. Has anyone noticed that often, when at a herb dropper etc, you will get say... 5 rarer herbs in 10 kills... then a dry streak for the next half hour you are there? Not to mention, the number of times that someone has gone "scim!" at fires, and very very shortly after, I have also gotten the drop. I understand stats, and I understand that you remember when it does happen, and forget when it doesn't, but I still feel it happens an innordinate amount.
  12. Fact checked for you. That was painfully forced and made no sense whatsoever, and not in the amusing way. Not to mention potholes and inconsistencies literally from one line to the next. Uhm, when rhyming in music, as you seem to be totally, totally unaware, you don't necesserily use a word that rhymes. For instance, GOAT and BOAT. In songwriting, you could easily rhyme scared with miscellania. The same way Will smith rhymed Scared with Bel Air. It sounds similar, it doesn't rhyme, but it flows. Leave the kid alone. He wrote something quite funny, and you derail it with some ridiculous points. You are laughing at him because you think he's sad for writing this song, and yet you derailed it with his inconsistencies and lack of runescape knowlege. Who needs to reassess their life, really?
  13. The special attack is way, WAY overpowered. As a ranger myself, I can tell you in PvP it would be instant knockouts almost all the time. You get someone below 60hp and you would instantly press the spec button twice. Against anyone, you'd KO them straight away. A 1 in 3 chance your dragonstone bolt would have it's desired effect even if they are potting antifire or have a shield? No way. It's almost a guarenteed 30-40+ shot.
  14. Erm... surely the solution to this problem is to have it based on the GE price and not the alch price? That's fairly easy, in my opinion. I think it's definitely time to do it. The alchemy system is dated. The only reason it exist is because previously, it was the only value for an item in game that could be programmed.
  15. I think this is a great idea, good on you jagex. I think there needs to be more scope. The only imps worth catching are dragon, maybe ninja and magpie. That's it! There needs to be 5 or 6, it needs to be interesting. Maybe an untradeable charm imp
  16. When did you quit? I did the same thing, add me on RS if you want, Ranging Roy, I'll chat with you man.
  17. You can sell the robin, will be a nice cash boost, and it isn't necessary. I'm a level 92 ranger, and I find the best set up varies. Ring of Wealth is good if you are doing long term training at something like earth warriors, ankous, steel drags, fire giants. The added drops really really add up. I'd say Crossbow is your best bet, and get slayer 55 for broad bolts. Amulet of ranging unless you are tanking, then glory or fury. Guthix coif will suffice over a robin. Snakeskin boots if you can't afford ranging boots.
  18. So is this getting added today? with the update or?
  19. Absiolutely do not use dragon boots, in any situation. They offer no protection from range, and have a negative range attack bonus.
  20. Whilst I agree with this to some extent, It is not like herblore has only just become part of combat, there are other combat related Pots are there not? there are many ways of getting an advantage, this was just one way, a way that only a minority had access to and one that another minority decided was too great. The issue is not herblore pots being used in PvP, but whether herblore should affect combat level. A level 30, with 96 herblore. They can instantly increase their levels much higher than another level 30. You can buy and sell normal pots, you cant buy and sell the new pots.
  21. I like your enthusiasms, but I'm afraid it's not RWTing-proof. Adding probability will almost never solve a problem like this. RWTers would just take the cash and lose it anyway ... They don't care that they'll lose maybe 20 mill. It'll be the customers who will have to pay for that. And if the buyer bring a lot of money of his own, he'll have an even better chance at the loot. If you consider an update where the killer only gets half the loot the lower lost, there can still be RWTing (just bring 2 AGS instead of 1 and make the customer pay double). Sure, your idea allows for 1 gp, but it also allows for (total -1 gp), so they basically do the same. Neither of them stops RWTing. But by the same yardstick, it's even more possible for RWTing to take place now. How difficult would it be for someone to buy 10 kills of over 76k from a RWT? It's a lot easier and a lot cheaper for the RWTs to do that, and also makes it possible for friends to kill friends for drops.
  22. I think this is simple. The way to fix PvP is as follows. When someone dies, and loses, for instance, 234ks worth of items, the person who gets the kill gets a random amount of money from anywhere between 1gp and 234k gp. No Earned Potential etc, just straight up random chance. Perhaps maybe increase the chance of the higher amount the more that you risk. It prevents RWT, simply because it would be so inefficient for people to sell kills of a few million, because there is still a high chance that you would get 1gp from a 20 million kill, but it rewards regular pkers who go for the most equipped guys, and get kills regularly. The law of averages states that people would make money.
  23. If you look at the XP curves, 200m xp would only bring something like level 126 hits... I say open it up. It won't effect that many players, but it will open up a new range of pkers. It will broaden the range. Which is good.
  24. I'm a level 92 ranger, with 70 def, ranged based combat. How useful is the handcannon for PvP? Is it worth me getting the other requirements to use it? what kind of hits are you looking at and what is the special like?
