Plank make question

ok i tried to calculate the number of planks i would need to have to get to 92 construction

then i tried to figure out which would be the cheapest to make using plank make for those planks

oak: 23849

teak: 15900

MH:10221

i calculated the total cost of runes (ignoring the elemental runes)

oak:: 16 mil

teak::10.8 mil

MH: 7 mil

then i calculated the cost of the spell from the cash aspect:

O: 4 mil

T:5.5 mil

M: 10 mil

then the cost of the logs

O: 2 Mil

T: 1.6 mil

M: 4 mil

everything was at mid btw.

when i added al these up i got teak to be the cheapest does this make sense?

also do you think it is worth it/ what should i make?

You seem to be ignoring the time and exp aspects, especially considering you could be spending your time making gp other ways and buying planks. Plank make is primarily useful for magic exp, and the planks produced only partly offset the costs that people are willing to pay for fast exp. Every 1-1.5k casts is another hour of your time spent, keep in mind.

Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate.

time isnt really a factor. i just want something to do to further both magic and construction.

exp is just a bonus for the most part lol. it like being able to train 2 or more skills from the same set of cash.

EDIT:

all this plank make would get me 122k form 96 magic too. i can get that from the circus over the course of a few weeks. i have wanted 96 magic for some time lol.

getting 92 con and 96 mage are things that i have wanted for a while.

EDIT2: if i bought the teak planks it would cost about 5 mil less (imo not that much besides the extra 1.5 mil magic xp is worth it)

You would be better off using mahogany logs for plank make, selling the planks, and buying oak planks for construction.

Or he could use the mahogany planks he makes and save himself lots of time training construction (half the ammount of mahogany planks is needed as compared to oak). Then use all that extra time to make the money back.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.

Yeah, but it turns out that you need really high income levels to justify that. Was 4m+ last time I looked.

intresting. so what you gys are saying is tha ti should not get 96 magic and just make the mahogany planks sell them and buy oak planks which would take longer to get to 92 con.

Yes Mahogany are the best xp/gp spent for Magic, as for construction your better off using oak planks and possibly doing stealing creation.

That is basically saying you're better off burning Maple Logs over Magic (Firemaking) because you'll be saving a lot of money in the process.

If you are rich enough you can make Mahogany Tables starting at level 52 while having a Demon Butler grab the planks for you (paying him 10k each hour). Of course, a lot of players don't have 150-300 mil gp to spend so more of them use oak planks to save money. Construction is a very fast skill to train if you are reasonably wealthy and have money to burn. It is a money drain skill and those who grind their levels end up losing money than making a profit.

The method you put down is slower but more profitable. If my opinion, profiting your way to a level is not the same as power training.

ok not sure if you are for my idea or against it. but any who i will be doing sc for hammer

the numbers i had are with sc hammers

also the reason i am doing this is to burn money that would other wise be sitting in my bank providing no benefit.

A lot of people associate Stealing Creation to speed training. Crafting, Construction and Smithing are now viewed as SC skills because by using SC you'll be saving money. What better way to save money than to purchase a new armor set or weapon?

ok your statements are confusing me. the reason i am going to use SC hammer is so that i dont have to have so many planks: this leads to two things. it is cheaper and faster. i like con but i dont want to spend 40 mil on it where i can spend 18 mil on it and get the same lvl

how ever i may be misinterpreting what you are saying.

Do you even read other posts before you criticize them? Plank make gives the same xp either way, and mahogany planks are the cheapest to make with the skill.

Making mahogany tables vs oak dungeon doors is another question, and I doubt OP makes the income to economically justify it without considering personal preference in the efficiency calculations.

i am doing plank make and i WILL be using the plank for construction.

based on this teak is the cheapest. sure i could resell the mahogany for a smaller loss but that is unimportant because i will be using the planks

EDIT:

this is not turning out to be quite a bad a flamefest as i was expecting. any way i plan to flip a coin to see whether or not i am going to do it.
