You can say you have done it and hold it over everyone else...and the chip and barcode ideas might help keep spies out...the Cyborgenic thing has obvouis research benefits....other than that there won't be any really change.

You'd be better of with a chip since you can install portals that automatically detect when someone without authorization enters an area or have shop detectors scan the thief as well as the stolen merchandice.

If you are going to have them all constantly broadcasting a signal, it's going to require even more equipment to be able to monitor it all.

 

Besides, it isn't difficult to rig a microwave to go off without the glass panel on the front. Just point that at your arm or wherever the chip is for 4-5 seconds and the chip is fried.

 

A basic EMP can be assembled from easily obtainable materials, and would probably be able to mess with the chip.

This is why I recommended the Genetic option(well one of the reasons) it would be way harder to circumvent something that would slowly kill you if you did.
