Holy crap I just checked and I have the highest AIG in the game (France+Germany+large part of china :thumbsup:) Anyways Icu what I was thinking of was something slightly different for the university. FTL travel to be exact (granted this is highly theoretical but :shrugs:) it is based upon tachyons (theoretical particles that may have a speed basement [?] of light). With a massive amount of power (say at least one fusion reactor) you could allow the particles of a ship to act like a singular tachyon (hopefully not killing everything onboard) and then cut the power when close to your destination.

I'm saying that'd take 90 years, due to your vast richness you can pay 100% Which I'd guess be somewhere in the region of 100 billion.

Well actually I was thinking about a wonder related to this, but I didn't want to post it and start a race....

I dont know of any theory that says that you can make something act like a tachyon, its like making something act like a photon, only that photons actually exist, cant you just go for wormholes or entangled particles instead.

Then only one guy can travel FTL? Thats a bit imba.

And Ico, its gonna be a bit like the Manhatten Project....The person who gets it first gets a boost, but it unlocks it for everyone.

It should probably be open ended (probably). Of course before we sent probes out we would have to assemble a massive fleet (just in case)

EDIT: Mather I think people don't like the idea of stargates (or something stargate related) while I found out about tachyons while really really bored surfing wikipedia. (They also to the best of my knowledge have no Tv show/movie that uses them in this fashion)

If you use entangled particles I think you have to travel to some place first slower than light and then could open up a 'portal' for communication and theoretically teleportation, I'm not sure if that's a good or bad idea.

I'll help the FTL wonder when it comes out. Paying the remainder of my IAG into it.

 

Tachyons were important in this one SG-1 episode where they found a ziggurat with a crystal skull emiting radiation which strengthened the tachyones effect on matter, and evenmaking them cause fase-shifting.
