FTL travel to be exact (granted this is highly theoretical but :shrugs:) it is based upon tachyons (theoretical particles that may have a speed basement [?] of light). With a massive amount of power (say at least one fusion reactor) you could allow the particles of a ship to act like a singular tachyon (hopefully not killing everything onboard) and then cut the power when close to your destination. Of course before we sent probes out we would have to assemble a massive fleet (just in case)EDIT: Mather I think people don't like the idea of stargates (or something stargate related) while I found out about tachyons while really really bored surfing wikipedia. Tachyons were important in this one SG-1 episode where they found a ziggurat with a crystal skull emiting radiation which strengthened the tachyones effect on matter, and evenmaking them cause fase-shifting.
