Ip board lo-fi

Featured Replies

I often surf tip it throughout the day on my iPhone, just like I'm doing now. To save cellular data fees, I use the ip board lo-fi skin, meaning I can't see signitures, ect.

However, I can't find the pm inbox at all on this skin. I trawlled through the user cp for like half an hour a home (where I've got wifi) but still found nothing. Am i doin it wrong? A bit of help, please?

Moving to Forum Updates & Suggestions. Should get a better answer there as this is really a forum related question.

I've never used the IP Lofi skin myself, maybe someone else knows in the meantime. :)

It looks like the messenger link isn't there because the messenger doesn't actually work in the Lo-Fi skin. I'm not sure why IPS chose to do this but they have.

Anyway, version 3.1.0 of the forums is only a couple of months away and it comes with a brand new mobile skin which is much better than Lo-Fi and does include messenger.

Messenger doesn't work... FUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Will the new mobile skin be as data economical as ip board lo fi?

Also, is there another non-data intensive skin I could use to check messages or send messages with?

That pretty much. Are you sure your iPhone doesn't come with unlimited internet browsing though? They often don't advertise the fact, but when I bought mine luckily the gentleman told me that it did in fact. I tend to steer clear of the lo fi skin unless I have a poor connection these days.

Normal IP board isn't too bad on data though, but disable signatures/avatars before you intend to browse on your phone to make it easier.

The new mobile skin uses maybe a few kilobytes more than the current Lo-Fi skin but it's MUCH better than the current Lo-Fi skin. And I seriously mean much better.

As Rainy says, if you turn off signatures in your profile options you should be fine. This page is 800kb including signature images. Much of the forum uses repeated images so once you've downloaded them once your phone will keep them cached.

Here's a few screenshots of the new forum skin on my phone from IPS's company forums, each page load was around 35kb.
