Headphones

Ok, so my iPod earphones that I got with my latest iPod have finally broken, no suprise there. I do love those headphones but they aren't very durable.

I'm looking for some fairly low budget but good quality ones to replace them, 1 thing is a concern for me though, I really like the remote feature on my old Apple earphones, so I was wondering if any other brand supports this and if it will be compatible with my iPod? Oh, no stupid over the head headset like earphones either, I gel my hair. :P

I've never tried in-ear ones either, but I think they're probably better, and louder?

Please bare in mind i'm in England, so dollars won't really help me.

Thanks.

I've got a pair of Phillips in-ear bud headphones which have lasted me ages, got them August last year and used them pretty much daily.

Black version of these. Can pick them (or similar ones) up for under £20 in HMV or someplace like that.

I used Skullcandy in-ear earphones before that but wouldn't recommed them too highly. I used them daily and they didn't seem to last very long before the connection loosened and one of the earphones cut out completely.

Sennheiser as well. I'd recommend the CX300's. Again, they're in-ear buds with pretty good sound quality. A bit dearer than the Phillips ones but not much.

Also, i'm not entirely sure how compatable any of these are with your remote thing. Knowing apple, it'll probably only be compatable with their headphones lol.

If you want to replace them for free-it covers most of their headphones. Even if you don't have a shuffle you should be able to get a replacements set.

I bought the in-ear ones for running and they are superb. The bass isn't that boomy, but not too soft. I tried out other headphones and the bass always threw me off (especially at higher volumes where it would be horribly distorted). While they aren't noise canceling, outside noise is significantly lowered given their intrinsic [in-ear] nature. I'd recommend them, but not if you're on a low budget.

I threw them away a month ago or so, so I guess I can't do that. If only I knew before. :wall:

while they are a little expensive - about 100 dollars or 75 pounds at current rates - bose's in-ear headphones are excellent. Aside from having great sound quality (nearly as good as my ~400 dollar molded set) service is excellent. While durability is not great (mine break about once every ten months from heavy use) every time they break bose replaces them for free and extends the warranty by another year. I have had a good 5 or 6 pairs of headphones because of this, and the entire RMA process takes about two days. Overall it's excellent to constantly have a fresh set of headphones.

I don't think anyone but Apple has that sort of thing, that's what Apple does and that's why I hate them.

I can recommend Skullcandys, just make sure you only spend as much as you're willing, as they do die often; although if you register them, they supposedly have a lifetime warranty for half price or free replacement depending on your model.

I wouldn't even bother getting Apple or Skullcandy (Just modified Phillips headphones), they both SUCK sound quality wise. Be a wise guy and buy a pair of Sennheisers.

You can buy the apple earphones from the apple store, I think they have several varieties you can choose from here.

I think hawkxs is right when she says Apple is the only company with earphones like that, but there is this adapter which I think has all the same functions.

Now, as to actual earphones...screw your Sennheisers and straight rep VSonic. Australian link though, sorry, couldn't find any UK links.

It's about time they update their design and find a way for them to stick.
