Trying to make more money long-term. Currently farming and going green drags, with kingdom on the side.

58m ATM, more every day.

Get a (item)

-Rare (specify)

-Armour (specify)

OR

Buy skill:

-99 range

-99 Mage

-95 prayer

-95 herblore

-96 summoning (either way it seems slow for a buyable lol)

-any other buyable combat skill.

Answer which one of these (if over 100m) or combination (if under 100m) is best for making long-term cash.

Drops: Black Mask.

Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.

Well each of the skills has its own advantages, while im not good when it comes to the Rares deparment ill give you some advice on the skills.

99 Range -

Advantage:

Extremely useful when going to arguably one of the best money makers in the game, Armadyl. Also is one of the best methods for Tormented Demons and Saradomin GWD.

Disadvantage:

Can be an expensive and slow skill to train making it one of the more painful ones to get to 99.

Can also be very expensive costing up to 30m (chinning) or more to power through lvls to 99.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

99 Mage -

Advantage:

Allows for a high mage defence against monsters like Aberrant Spectre's, Bloodveld's, ect. when working on Slayer.

Gives Access to spells like Ice Barrage, Vengence, and TeleBlock which are extremely useful for both Boss Hunting and PvP should you want to try it out or are a big fan of it.

Disadvantage:

Like above can be extremely expensive to train costing an upwards of 30m or more.

Sometimes becomes very slow and tedious making it a slow skill to train, although is normally faster than range in the training department.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

95 Prayer -

Advantage:

Having access to the curses this unlocks a whole new world of training. Curses such as the Leach curses, Turmoil and Soul Split.

Turmoil - Like a super powered version of Piety, this can make training a breeze and from what i can understand makes things super easy (obviously by my signature u can tell im only 71 so im not 100% sure on this)

Soul Split - Food? who needs it on those easy tasks, Soul Split will do the work for you! eh, what am i on about you ask? the fact that soul split allows you to get hp back from your hits when its activated!! This allows you to use less food and makes those easy tasks a breeze. I see this prayer being used A LOT at places like Dragons and tasks where you dont need a lot of food to survive.

Disadvantage:

EXPENSIVE!!! yea thats right this can cost up to and over 150m, so while this skill can prove to be a life saver at times...it can also be extremely costly, but worth it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

95 herblore -

Advantage:

So by now your thinking herblore has gotta be the most useful of my list...well in a nutshell i guess it could be.

Access to the Extremes and Overloads will allow you Definate access to easy GWD and Corp teams over most others who dont have it.

Extremes can make training extremely (pardon the pun) easy. As can Overloads.

With a higher herblore level you will have access to better potions in the Dungeoneering Skill making it a lot easier to "pwn" some of those hard bosses.

Disadvantage:

Of your choice skills...this will be the MOST expensive, at 175m+ (probably closer to 200m) this is the one that is most likely to break you. Although it is a easy and fast skill to train the likely hood of it breaking your bank over breaking you (like magic and range so to speak) is low. Be warned that while this skill is probably the most useful of the list it will be the one that costs the most.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

96 summoning -

Advantage:

On a task where you need more invo spaces and the war tort isnt getting it done? well look no further than the Pak Yak! Yes this little beauty will offer you more space and become your best friend! Ok ok enough of the sales pitches lets get down to buisness...

96 summoning allows you access to A lot of really useful summons including the Pak Yak (scapers best friend so-to-speak). This will let you have that invo space you needed but never was able to find.

This also gives you access to the Elemental Titans(fire, ice, earth), Geyser Titan, Wolpentiger (sp?) which is good for maging, and of course the one and only Pak Yak.

Disadvantage:

Ok so while this is one of the 2 better things to choose(aside from herblore) it will be the one that takes the longest to train.

The need for charms can makes this one of the more tedious things to train causing it to be a lot slower than the rest of the skills listed.

Cost is one thing im not sure of but im sure it will be kind of high as you have no only shards/pouches to pay for but also 2nd ingredients as well.

If you want to make long term cash nothing is certain, however the trends have shown if you hold onto a rare for a few years you can sell it for a reasonable amount more then you bought it for. My suggestion would be to buy a lower tier rare; a santa or mask. Alongside this do one of the cheaper goals. You could have a Santa, 99 range and high magic for under 100 million. 30 million for 99 range, 61 million for a santa and the rest into magic which you can burst, also giving you charms towards summoning.

In the end, it depends on what you do most. I slay, therefor soul split will be invaluable to me and is the reason why I am getting 92 prayer before anything else. Currently I have almost half the bones I need banked. It's expensive but it fits my play style. You need to decide what play style suits you best, once you have decided that it will be easy for us to help you choose which one of those things will be best for you.

Skylor...my jaw dropped with the awesome of that post. Thanks.

Nif, I'm undecided on my long-term play style. A few side goals are 83 slayer and the ability to GWD for cash. I'm more of a casual player, you could say... I like slayer, but I'd like at least one of these first.

Basically, I like questing, bossing, making cash and slayer for fun.

Here is an honest opinion, bossing is going to be very difficult for a casual player simply because there are so many void/ags/turmoil/extremes teams out there which dominate godwars and make it a very tedious place to go for cash. This doesn't mean that you cant go bossing, it just means it will be more difficult if you don't have a good 400m to sink into prayer, herblore and an AGS. I am full void, SGS and 88 summoning and I find myself getting crashed too much for godwars to be worth it.

That in mind, though bossing is fun and lucrative there are other great goals out there.

For example, you like questing, with your stats you could get a quest cape with a bit of work. For a casual player a quest every couple days will be a long term goal with a good amount of variety. Blood Runs Deep gives a good 8m worth prayer exp as a reward. WGS gives 12m worth herblore exp. The biggest obstacle would be Nomad but others with lower stats have done it, you can too.

Part of the beauty of this game is how it is such a sandbox, you can alternate slaying and questing to work for both a quest cape and that 83 slayer. Herbs and MTK on the side for extra cash. If you get bored with that join a Bandos mass.

Ultimatly this is just a game so do what is fun. If high level herblore and prayer don't sound like fun to work for years towards then don't. If you like questing then all the more power to you.

Yeah, it will help with the final decision Skylor, again, thanks so much.

Nif, I was thinking solo gwd or team Armadyl, hence it being a long-term goal....:P

I've done both nomad and Wgs, and they wern't a problem. I'm just too tight to fork out for smithing, ect, when the end result of a quest cape is for looks. Questing again is a long term goal, I had to powerquest like 70 qp for wgs and loved it. I'm leaving it for a while then I'll powerquest again.

At this point in time I'm thinking that Herby is the way to go, it's useful for slayer and overloads are Ftw.

I'm just not sure which option is immediatly best to pursue as I am a "casual" player compared to most, and I can't aim for all of these at once. It's just pretty hard choosing.

In terms of what I'd like, summoning followed by herby, but it might not be the most practical.

You don't really need 95 herblore. Extremes do fine unless you monster hunt A LOT, and even then, +4 stew is only 22% chance, so it's pretty common. Common enough to justify getting 92 herblore > 95.

Unfortunatly I'm not up with the stewing method logging in/out...I'd need some explanation.

I plan on monster hunting a hellva lot, hence why I'd want super prayers and overloads, ect.

I'd suggest investing some (30m) into merching. By that I mean item flipping, not the merch clan BS.

Use the rest of your money to level up range via chins, then get 90 def and go to arma, i heard its one of the best moneymakers.

I'd love to merch but know nothing about it.

Iirc you need 100m+ worth of gear to effectivly do armadyl. It's a longer term thing, which I will do eventually.

You do not need 100m worth gear. However finding a good team and not getting crashed may be difficult without those higher up buyables. The most important thing is 99 range and if you can get 88 summoning that is great as well. These goals are all cash reliant so if you are serious about them then AGW is a good cash maker, remember though, you need like three or four solo hilt drops there if you want to fund high level herblore and prayer.

I hate team anything. It's hard to organize and doesn't make as much cash, plus it doesn't fit well with my random at best, nonexistant at worst play times.

What gear would you reccomend then?

One more thing to add to money making is a daily shop run. There are a few guides on TIF about which NPCs sell/give good stuff. High profit/h opportunity if you can bother (I don't out of laziness  ).

About items:

[hide]When investing, the best option is always flipping. It gives the highest returns on your investments. However you may not always be able to find enough items to spend all your money on. You may also make a bad buy and lose money. I personally have not flipped very much in the last month because the markets on items I usually flipped grew chaotic and unprofitable. I'd stay away from clan investing, generally low returns (selling quite early) or high risk (waiting a long while).

If you're looking for long term investments, a santa might not be a bad idea. It's only a matter of time before there's another buyout attempt, and otherwise it will rise long term. Another option is amulets of fury which will grow increasingly rare and have had an upward price trend since Tzhaar shops were modified. I'd stay away from h'weens but that's just me.[/hide]

About skills:

[hide]You should buy things in decreasing order of most benefit per dollar.

99 range - very cheap, very useful for the two most profitable bosses. Get this as soon as you're ready to move over to killing those bosses.

-99 Mage - virtually useless past 80 aside from small benefits for Solo Rex for accuracy and GWD/TDs/Corp for defence. I would get this last.

-95 prayer - great for any melee you do. If you want to do bandos you will REALLY want it since the accuracy increase is really useful there. For TDs it is great, but piety is perfectly acceptable since due to switching you may want eagle eye (also turmoil doesn't set in til your second hit, which in some cases the demon may have switched). Bandos solo isn't worth it unless you have overloads, though, so this can wait. 225m?

-90 herblore - extremes are very useful, especially extreme ranged which gives a huge advantage over regular ranged about 150m.

-95 herblore - just get 92 and stew - once you can afford 95 you can afford 99. Allows you to use brews while soloing. Invaluable for soloing any GWD, unnecessary (but helpful) at TDs. Another 35m. This can be put on back burner.

-96 summoning - useful for every boss, get this. You should do waterfiends unless you want magic xp, since currently your income isn't high enough to justify it.

So the order I would recommend

1. 99 ranged as soon as you want to kill a ranged boss.

2. 96 summoning

3. 90 herblore

4. 95 prayer

5. 92+ herblore

6. 99 firemaking

7. 99 cooking

8. 99 mining

9. 99 magic (seriously, it's about that useless for combat)

Obviously if you want to do Bandos you'll want to get overloads before turmoil [/hide]

About bosses:

[hide]If you're soloing anyway, may as well do TDs instead of Armadyl. They're safer, quicker, better charms, lower stress, better drop rates, and not much worse profits than Armadyl. At maxed stats TDs are about 3.8m/h (35 kills) just from claws with unicorn, and about 5m (45 kills) or more with steel titan; I have been told solo Armadyl with steel titan is supposedly 5.5m or better, but this was with higher AGS and armadyl prices. If you like Armadyl, enjoy away.

The best part about TDs is it's actually best to solo unless you're after LSP if you're trying to get a divine/elysian sigil. You can use "welfare gear" if you need and do them whenever. There's a learning curve with prayer switching, however.[/hide]

A very important note:

[hide]QUIT WORRYING SO MUCH ABOUT MAXING.

Seriously. From what I read you're overly concerned about maxing out your bosshunting abilities. Slow down, and go step by step. And for the love of god try to enjoy it.[/hide]

I'm still trying to comprehend the awesomeness of your post, blade...:o

I'm only worried about maxing because everyone keeps saying you need to be maxed to boss hunt at all...

Assuming I went for 99 range first, PCing to train melee for a full void set to use at Tds, would that be effective? :S

Pest Control is no longer a quick way to train melee. Armored Zombies or Zombie Monkeys are much faster.

I'd be meleeing while obtaining points, not to specifically train.

Dunno if I'd get it at all, I hate pc...lol.

You will get next to no xp from getting the set, since the main xp from PC comes from the tokens-xp exchange.

However, the set is worth the time to get it.

Thought it was better to ask here as opposed to opening a new topic.

Considering money making times AND collecting times (I have 62m at the moment to work with), what's the fastest way for me to get 26k odd crimsons?

Well; You could save up a bunch of charms collected passively through slayer and grinding waterfiends/rock lobsters and then use them when and if the double xp weekend comes. That's assuming a double xp weekend will even happen, though.

Or; Grind like crazy at waterfiends.

With your stats, I recommend rock lobsters, not bursting, because you'd get crashed too easily, but barraging with an arcane stream necklace. The minigame/skill of dungeoneering isn't really that bad once you get into it. The monster levels are based around YOU, so never worry about the monsters being far too tough.

I'd say you can merchant too, but I'd type it in private chat. You seemed to have stopped pming me, hmm.

Anyways. You can always considering joining "of the gods" as a longterm goal. They do corp, bandos, armadyl and the like, albiet them being jerks half the time, it's still a good clan to be in if you enjoy monster hunting.

Moneymaking wise; You have a few options. Gwd, Corp, Tds, Dks, Merchant, Pk, Grind green dragons, or something else that I haven't listed.

Hopefully this will help. I'm sometimes not clear because I ramble alot, but whatever
