Does your combat lvl effect how many you have to kill on each task or is it just the monters lvl that effect it? I have never gotten more then 48 steel dragons and is that the max amount even for lvl 138 players?

Each slayer master has a set number of monsters they assign. The only thing that affects how many monsters you have to kill is the type of the monster. For example, you might get a task of 250 bloodvelds, but would you want a task of 250 mithril dragons?

As far as I can tell it is completely random how many you get assigned, although different Slayer Masters have different maximums as to how many of a certain creature they can assign. For example Vannaka can assign between 60 and 120 Aberrant Spectres and Kuradal can assign between 150 and 250 Aberrant Spectres.

For example, if you're combat 120 you might have more of a chance of getting easier monsters such as hellhounds, greater demons etc. But if you're 130+ combat you might have a better chance of getting tasks like Mithril Dragons, Metal Dragons etc.
