Due to its strength bonus, bandos is generally regarded as the best slayer armor. If its in your budget you definitely need to buy the plate and tassets. If you had to pick one, id have to say do the plate and use a verac's skirt.

Qp cape achieved 2/17/08, 99 strength achieved 7/8/09, 99 attack achieved 5/28/10, 99 hitpoints achieved 8/22/10

Yes, as long as you can afford the armor, and you don't need any money sitting in your bank, its always worth it to get the more expensive armor. It will also give you slightly better xp/hr, which is always good.

if the only other option is dragon, yes, it's well worth the price.

I often will slay in a Bandos Plate and Verac skirt for tasks that high high, and for low level tasks, I just use Pros.

This is however using Turmoil.

If it won't break your bank, look into some bandos and verac pieces.

gs's are too slow. If you are training str use a ss or d scim. For att or def use a whip.

Using Proselyte Top+Bottom (Idk the correct names for them) and spending the money you would buy with Bandos on potions and using piety/turmoil on tasks would be a lot better. You can usually slay most tasks in rune if you have a high defense, and if using piety/turmoil you get a slight def boost to help out.

If you find yourself getting hit to hard, put on Verac's Skirt and/or Brassard to help stop most attacks and give a slightly lower prayer bonus then Proselyte.

Bandos is overrated imo. It is defensively weaker than barrows, and only gives a slight str bonus. I frankly dont think 50m for a top and bottom is worth hitting 20 lps higher when you could use a 2.4m setup (dh top and v skirt, for example), to get high def, a prayer bonus, and save a lot of cash. If you are drowning in cash, and do not require any leveling of skills, then sure, get it. I would put 50m towards herblore, smithing, summ, farming, crafting, con, mage before buying bandos. Dont think this is a poor-man's opinion either - i can afford plenty, i just prefer to stick my cash towards useful items or skills.

I personally think the optimal setup for most slayer tasks is a full slayer helm, fury, dh top, v skirt, zerker ring, whip, defender, d boots, soul wars or fire cape, and rfd gloves. This setup costs under 30m FOR THE ENTIRE THING. If you have all this and still have cash to spend, why not buy a dpick? ZS? Karils? Battle robes? SOL? Exremes? the list goes on and on, and i give each of these items priority over a simple 'luxurious' bandos item.

If you have lots of money, the following is the best gear for almost every slayer task:

Full slayer helm

Fire cape

Fury

Chaotic Rapier

Rune Defender

Bandos Chestplate

Bandos Tassets

Barrows Gloves

Dragon Boots

Berserker (i) / Ferocious

Dragon Claws for special attack

With that setup you'll have to bring a yak packed with p pots. Prossy + sw cape > bandos + fire.

The setup I gave WILL get you better xp/h than if you use proselyte and soulwars cape. I believe you overestimate the amount of prayer you save with proselyte, too. Using the gear I listed, you use 11 prayer potions an hour; using the gear you listed, you use 7 prayer potions an hour. The difference is really not that large, about 35k gp an hour.
