June 3, 201016 yr http://www.tastekid.com A lot of times I find myself wanting to find a movie to watch, but it is annoying and time consuming to search manually for relevant movies. Same thing for music and TV series. So a few days ago I came across this website, which is a discovery search site (or whatever technical term you want to call it) and it is by far the best of these types of sites I have found. The results or recommendations it makes for you are extremely accurate. I'm a big movie fan, so I know what types of movies I'm wanting to receive from the movies I enter as my 'likes' and the results I get back are just right. Out of the other discovery features for music, tv and authors, the movie section is by far the most accurate and helpful. I've only been let down once by the recommendations and I've watched around 13 films since using the feature, so the success rate is decent. Music is also fairly accurate. I've found a lot more bands who focus on my interests more than just finding one song that peaks my interest but finding out that the band who made the song, was just a one time deal. With this, I'm finding bands, not individual songs, which are relevant to my interests. This is something that Last.fm and other music discovery sites have a problem with, in my opinion. The book/author search is probably just as good, but I'm too limited in my authors/books to really give it a run through. The other benefit of this site is that there is a community aspect to it, so you can view other people's profiles and see what movies they've liked and get recommendations based off of their likings and such. It is also free too, so why not enjoy it before it gets monetized. Another thing that people dislike doing is having to manually type in their bands/films/songs to get recommendations. You still have to do this but with the accurate recommendations you're going to find that once you type in one film or song or band name, the results are going to be band and film names you already have. So you just have to like them as they automatically pop up. It is less of a hassle and is a great benefit. Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I have, since all other discovery sites have failed me through inaccurate results, limited use or there's a pay to use part to the site. Enjoy. - If you need an example profile:http://www.tastekid.com/Ink Or just register and fiddle around with it.
June 3, 201016 yr I must confirm that the book/author search is just as good. The TV show search was kind of scary... Thinking that people who like to watch Good Eats also like The Angry Beavers (or something along that line) is eerie, but accurate. Other things happened with MythBusters and Bill Nye. btw: http://www.tastekid.com/hawkxs sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
June 4, 201016 yr Seems like a lot of the recommendations I've gotten for movies are just other movies with the same actors. And for songs it's just the person/band that did the sound track for the movie. I'm curious how they come up with the suggestions
June 4, 201016 yr I'm getting a bunch of classic rock for music suggestions. I listen to mostly hip-hop and punk/hardcore. This doesn't seem all that good. It's also only recommending me Adam Sandler movies. I am dissapoint. [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp
June 4, 201016 yr Didn't work all that well for me either. I don't think it really combines all your suggestions into one, since it seemed like it was suggesting on a per movie basis (I had Casablanca as a choice, so it gave me a few other famous older movies that had nothing to do with any of my other suggestions). Actually of the 25 or so it gave back I had only not seen one of them, of the ones I had seen about half I liked and half I didn't. So yeah, thumbs down from me.
