June 4, 201016 yr I just got 60 range and i am considering buying a dark bow when I get the money. Is it worth the price or should I try to buy a dragon 2 handed sword? "Zamorak pjed Zaros. June 4, 201016 yr Darkbows are fairly useless, except for a couple specific situations (I think they're good in pvp? Not sure).Stick with a rune crossbow for all your training, or any other situation where you need to use range. Similarly, D2h is pointless, and you're much better off using a whip / D scim / sara sword. June 4, 201016 yr Don't bother with either. For one, a darkbow's primary use is for pking with a range level much higher than 60 (usually in conjunction with void-range set). Secondly, the dragon 2h is more of a novelty than anything else. I used to have one lying around when It looked awesome, and held it wrong in f2p (it would look like a HUGE longsword). As a weapon, it sucks the nuts, it may hit a bit higher than a whip, but since RS combat is all about balancing speed with power, it's too much of a sacrifice, not to mention that special attack has zero practical uses besides in Pest Control (where it usually fails anyway, plus you only get half exp). Even a dragon battle-axe is better imo. Trust me, every time I bought either weapon (especially the d2h) out of boredom, I regretted it very soon after. =================================================== Train range with the traditional shortbow setup with an accumulator at chaos druids, it's faster exp than a crossbow. I've almost got my range pure to 80 there (also go to tzharr to mix things up). The chaos druids themselves yield very nice profit, you can easily pay to train with steel/mith arrows and still pocket extra.
June 4, 201016 yr no dark bow is never good for training. get the rune crossbow once you get the level, dorg isn't bad either. The druids are found directly along the tunnel from the entrance of taverly dungeon. I'd say they're better than dragons. I can't remember the exact specifics on with exp/hour. But here's some numbers: - 200 Hp, low defense, they die VERY quickly.- Respawn in ~6 seconds, if the world is empty or even just one other person with you, you're going to be constantly in combat.- extremely easy to safe-spot, but this is only relevant to 1 defense pures.- Drops include most high level herbs very common to get two at a time (double ranarr drops included). If you leave all herbs harralander and below, your full inventory of loot can easily reach 150k+ depending on specific herbs. A full inventory takes ~80-90 minutes. You should be 1mil+ richer by the time you hit 70.- If I recall correctly, it's roughly 30k ranged exp an hour (give or take 10k) at 60-70, depends how concentrated you are. It's hardly something you can afk. If you play for about 3 hours a day, it should take you less than a week to reach 70.
June 4, 201016 yr The dark bow is only good for Pking, and d2h isn't good for anything Stick with a Rune Crossbow/magic bow for range, and a D scimy/whip for melee. Fisher/Woodcut------Me-----Miner/crafter----Stabber----Leecher ^Golvellius must be so proud^
June 4, 201016 yr I've tried the dark bow out quite a lot and to be perfectly frank, it's only good for 1) outfits and 2) pking with its ko-potential spec with dragon arrows. I'd stick to rune crossbow and broad bolts for ranging. D2H pretty much has the same overall uselessness, although it has a high strength bonus, unless you like godswords and its slow attack rate, I'd only really recommend D2H for things like pest control where a whole group of monsters can be stuck, earning a big chunk of exp. For me personally the only slow weapon I'd ever want to wield is a godsword, as its huge attack and strength bonus makes up for its slow speed, even then it's not enough for me to purchase one again. I'd stick to a whip or d scimmy.
June 4, 201016 yr Only worth it PVP :) Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)Dagannoth kings drops: 73Barrows item count: 51GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)Whips: 4Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)
June 4, 201016 yr Author Thanks for all the help i decided that i wont buy the dark bow and instead save for something else. "Zamorak pjed Zaros. He would have won 1v1."
