It's backwards to have an idealist policy that states that you should treat people fairly. It'll end in the bloody downfall of your city-state, guaranteed. People don't like pacifists, and some factions even explicitly target such groups in order to get an easy kill. Letting a potential thief continue to live and rummage through your belongings because you haven't actually SEEN him take anything is included in what I just said. It's a lot better to assume he's a thief and kill him off or at least maim him so he runs away. Otherwise, you might as well bend over and take an iron sword up the ass...

And my policy toward foreigners is: Talk to 'em first, if they seem to be decent people, then let them live. If they start trying to steal or pull some other crap, DEATH RAINS DOWN. As soon as I get Rage and maybe Murder.

I know there's been at least one guy messing around Icu's cabin who yelled "I CAN TAKE ANYTHING I WANT" and then proceeded to do so because most people hadn't claimed their crap.

 

Also, in case you haven't noticed, the public storeroom has been swept clean of everything, cabinets included.

Know what will bring about the fall of the city-state?

Flood.

 

Its counter-productive to have a 'kill everything' policy when you have only one or two people capable of carrying it out.

 

So you might as well let them steal from you in order for you not to die, thus losing everything, until you are in a position to kill them...or, if it goes badly, retreat behind a wall.

 

And when you have a city, the ability to defend yourself and all that jazz...at which point any random person walking around inside is gonna be a new member OR an attacker who has broken through the palisade or been let through...In which case you have far more pressing concerns than 'PUT DOWN MY BONE SAW!'...Then you can kill the thief with no real risk of problems.

 

 

Its not about treating people fairly, its about not dying in some idiotic display of 'death or glory'.

And yes, there are some who would kill you for rolling over...They are a minority and a minority that would kill me anyway.

 

 

So...simple solution.

Build a wall. Keep the good stuff inside.

Profit.

Eventually get weapons and armour.

Defend yourself.

Profit.

Im currently saving LP for yeomanry, so I can make a claim and start on a wall. Unless you don't want a wall around our village.

This game is pissing me off right now, everything I need requires string or bone, which is impossible to find, and I'm starving trying to look for it.

Spork, to get bones you need to get rabbits or chickens, the best place to find them is East of Falador in that big purple/pink area.

 

String is Spindly Taproots or Stinging Nettles (String itself doesn't exist...cleverly). You need a few levels in exploration to find them...and then you won't be able to not see them.

 

On the food front, chickens and rabbits are best in the early game, but when you start finding taproots and stinging nettles you will probably start finding blueberry bushes, which you can eat.

 

 

 

Earth, I am still growing the crops up.

I have now successfully moved to Crossroads, which is now an official village.

Allright Arch, i'll just make a cart and some crates to gather a lot of clay for you soon as i get on again.

Leather straps are also strings and I suspect balls of wool are too.
