Zierro
Somebody has a problem with Romy...just say it to her face on your real account, dude. We're still arguing about this though? God damn. I hope you don't think that's me. lol i dont need ppl 2 pinpoint my oppresion in the past. i dont deserve a womans holiday cuz i myself wuz never oppressed. in fact, im sure most of the oppressed woman are all dead now. we should remember it so it never happens again, but we dont need to bring it up every day. i dont lyke 2 think dat i hav laws protecting me cuz i can hold my own. Exactly - it's just like the whole Black History Month thing. You're only causing them to hate whites even more by reminding them I have oppressed them for so long - even though it was my great great great great grandparents who did. Pride should come from within - not because a holiday tells you that you should be proud since you've been cheated before. If you can't find pride within yourself (the whole freaking point of pride), then how can you tell me you deserve it? It defeats the purpose when pride is spoon fed to you. This is a big reason why Man Day is just a joke and isn't a serious holiday. We don't need a real day because guess what.... WE'RE MEN! To dedicate a day to promote misogynistic views as this thread displays seems kinda counter intuitive. You seem to miss the part of my argument where days are typically awarded to those oppressed by a majority in history. You don't see White History month, yet you see Black History, and Hispanic Heritage Month. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. Seriously, could everyone stop trying to weasel around that fact and stop asserting that it's still fueled by sexism or whatever? I mean, you do know why yo mama jokes were invented? It's supposed to be funny. Not because people actually hate mothers. Only kidding, I do think it's fair to have a day dedicated to men, after all, men have accomplished alot, lol Men? not so much, we don't need a day ? das
I think this will be the last reply I bother writing to someone who doesn't put any effort in writing a post in clear English. so ur sayin dat if ur not a father u dont seserve a day?I don't need one, nor require one to relish in my awesomeness. not every father deserves to celebrate fathers day yet they all can.Who is anyone to be a moral judge of who is worthy to celebrate what? Thats pretty bold and elitist. but i kno a lot of ppl on here beleive in evolution, but i bet dey all open presents on christmas. their not Christians, they dont seserve a day. You do realize that Christmas, as a whole, especially the gift giving, is a pagan holiday? You can argue biblically , that Jesus wasn't even born on December 25th, Infact it never gives the actual birth day or date. it is very unlikely that Jesus was born in December, since the bible records shepherds tending their sheep in the fields on that night. This is quite unlikely to have happened during a cold Judean winter.I n 350, In ancient Babylon, the feast of the Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25. partying, eating and drinking, and gift-giving were traditions of this feast. Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25. There is little doubt that he was trying to make it as painless as possible for pagan Romans (who remained a majority at that time) to convert to Christianity. So, Your argument again here is lackluster. Asides, as a christian, we always say "Jesus is the reason for the season" gifts are the last focus of the holiday. So if you're saying that gift giving is a christian tradition on christmas, I daresay you're reaching to use a religion you don't understand or know much about to attempt to feebly stretch your argument in fact, im sure most of the oppressed woman are all dead now.. you went ahead and brought Religion into - so you already opened up that can of worms, Muslims still treat women like objects. And according to the national census in 2004 - Women make only 75.5 cents for every dollar that men earn, which is a form of oppression. so u might want 2 watch ur back das, romy will probably be after u soon,I'm not too chuffed, we get along well, she's a bright intelligent woman who i enjoy speaking with. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke. Thats what most people say when they tell a racist joke ;) its a damn good thing thats not wat dat holidays about then. Holidays are typically in remembrance, memorial or in honor "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."Abraham Lincoln

Riku3220
I've been lurking for awhile so now I'm finally going to share my opinion on this. I see the entire thing as a joke. It's not a sexist statement that oppresses women, but instead a day to say you're going to do something that you really won't. Look at the first post in this thread. "As for me, I'm going to start off tomorrow by eating a bowl of nails for breakfast. WITHOUT ANY MILK." and all of the other posts until magekillr's were just jokes with only one that could be deemed moderately sexist. You all are looking too much into this "holiday". It's just something for laughs.

Zierro
Thats what most people say when they tell a racist joke ;) Most of the time, they are just a kid looking for a quick lul. Not a white supremacist. Take political cartoons into consideration. The demographic is not terrorists or even anarchists for that matter - it is your average voting citizen. PS: Kind of funny seeing an admin debate a troll. I debated her about marijuana but that was before I knew she was a troll. Now I know better. You're free to debate my points though. Thats pretty bold and elitist. thanks 4 completely ignoring the fact that i said abusive and neglectful fathers arent worthy of the holiday. You do realize that Christmas, as a whole especially the gift giving, is a pagan holiday? i hav 2 admit dat the gift giving part is selfish. and it is close-minded 2 say day Christmas, a holiday celebrating the birth of the Christians savior, falling in the same month as a pagan holiday making it a pagan holiday is closed-minded. it wuz a dang estimate. i hope u wernt born in december das, cuz if u get presents and celebrate ur birthday in december then its a pagan holiday. sorry. And according to the national census in 2004 - Women make only 75.5 cents for every dollar that men earn, which is a form of oppression. ok? my main focus is american, considering that we are speaking about an man-made american holiday. im sure dat every day for Muslims is man day. she's a bright intelligent woman who i enjoy speaking with. if she was smart she wouldnt make a mountain outta a mole hill about a stupid facebook joke. if she she cant tell a joke, she aint 2 bright. Alot of Cartoons we're deemed funny for clinton, unpatriotic for bush and racist for obama, people get pissed over these too. dat was racist. u gotta a problem wit ppl dat dont speak clear english das? Expressing a problem with illiteracy is hardly racist. Assuming your profile is correct, you have stated you are a native of California if thats what "cali babii" actually means. which means you should be educated and taught English mandatory by the California school systems. Your syntax, Grammar and overall style is rather sad. only in ur head.Disprove my awesomeness ;) and it is close-minded 2 say day Christmas, a holiday celebrating the birth of the Christians savior, falling in the same month as a pagan holiday making it a pagan holiday is closed-minded. it wuz a dang estimate. i hope u wernt born in december das, cuz if u get presents and celebrate ur birthday in december then its a pagan holiday. sorry. It's historically accepted and proven. I'm not too sure what the heck your argument is, primarily because it's so poorly articulated that I don't even know HOW to reply to it. Romy
The problem with this day is not that it exists, but rather that it encouraged classification of what's "manly" and what isn't. And by isn't, I mean not suitable for women. It is a joke, by all means, but that does not mean it goes on unnoticed, or doesn't have impact. It expands the already existing polarity, and enlarges sexism in the same way racist jokes do to racism. It isn't different than if there was a "white race" day, that encourages white people to do what's considered "white".

"Because other groups were offended by something, women are allowed to get offended by this." If you are trying to convince me by using a precedent, then that's going by the assumption that I thought they were rightfully offended. I thought it was hilarious how people took the "Obama is a monkey" joke as a racist thing instead of taking it as "Obama is monkeying around". If a black man is mentioned in a negative connotation, then surely it is racism. It can't be because they actually did something wrong. People can't get their pride from within, so they put themselves on a moral high horse and point the finger at others to compensate. Keep doing this, society.
