Exactly - it's just like the whole Black History Month thing. You're only causing them to hate whites even more by reminding them I have oppressed them for so long - even though it was my great great great great grandparents who did. Pride should come from within - not because a holiday tells you that you should be proud since you've been cheated before. If you can't find pride within yourself (the whole freaking point of pride), then how can you tell me you deserve it? It defeats the purpose when pride is spoon fed to you. To dedicate a day to promote misogynistic views as this thread displays seems kinda counter intuitive. You seem to miss the part of my argument where days are typically awarded to those oppressed by a majority in history. You don't see White History month, yet you see Black History, and Hispanic Heritage Month.

So, Your argument again here is lackluster. Asides, as a christian, we always say "Jesus is the reason for the season" gifts are the last focus of the holiday. I've been lurking for awhile so now I'm finally going to share my opinion on this. I see the entire thing as a joke. It's not a sexist statement that oppresses women, but instead a day to say you're going to do something that you really won't. Look at the first post in this thread. People thought it was racist because Africans were referred to as monkeys before the slave trade began. I personally don't know if it was racist or not but you can't blame them for thinking that the comic was using a common racist term against Obama.

Two problems with that though. You can't have a <group> day without having some "offensive" mentalities. You already understand that most men can control their mentality to limit it as a joke. So why you feel its nessessay to bring this point other than to make useless debate.
