The title pretty much says it all. I wont be using the ss for alot besides tasks that i cant range, and waterfiends mainly. I am currently debating between a whip and a ss, and yes i know whip is best for slayer, but im trying to do as much slayer as possible by range.

 

It might also be worth mentioning that i only have 13m in cash right now, and i can get about 14.5 if i sell my junk

If you need SS for a slayer task then just borrow one Its way cheaper.

 

Seeing as you have 13m or so Putting it all on one item isnt the smartest idea

You can always borrow or buy one for certain tasks or strength level goals, then sell back. You wont lose much money.

I dont really plan on getting and 99 melee stats any time in the future.

If you arent aiming for 99 str, there is absolutely no reason to get a ss. a whip will be best for 95% of the things you kill, and the remaining will be covered if you get a zs. a ss is for those who would like to get 99 str and remain low in atk and def. Whip on controlled is where its at for mains (you).

Cost-wise, remember that you can lend the SS for quite a bit. If you are not using it, you can just lend it for a few k.

 

Or, you could buy one once the price dips a bit, use it, and sell it when the price goes up a little, although you run the risk of losing a few hundred thousand gp.

 

Best option is borrow, use a whip, or zs, to be quite honest.

You don't really have the cash to justify getting the SS, since you only really need it for waterfiend tasks. Use a Z Spear for waterfiends, and when you're richer (a couple weeks of farming and dailies should do it) then you can feel okay upgrading to the SS.
