Yep, it's been announced for a 2012 Release, and takes place in a totally different place and timeline.

Here's the link to the site and trailer :)

Oh hi, click me ;)

Enjoy.

Oh wow... awesome.

Totally going to look into to buying it.

It looks good, but why not change the name? The only thing in the trailer that resembles Bioshock(2) is the big baddy, and even that had an overhaul

I read about it yesterday and got extremely excited for it, but maybe the sub title should be what the name is, and thats Bioshock Infinite, because the game has no claim to be the third direct iteration of the series, but rather an entire new setting for the series. There is also a question of whether or not the game takes place in the same universe at all. If it does, then it takes place before Bioshock 1 + 2, which in itself is interesting.

I am ecstatic that the original Bioshock makers are developing it, though.

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

Um...

Looks like a good game on its own, but it just seems so different I don't know if it's a good thing or not. Maybe after Rapture was discovered someone brought the technology to the surface and expanded on it?

Still, it feels so different, all bright and open.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

Prequels,

Prequels everywhere.

It's a sequel.

oh, and a city in the sky? What's the point of that?

Under water is at least a tiny bit possible.

It is actually a prequel. Bioshock Infinite is based in 1912 Columbia while Bioshock 1 & 2 were in '60 and '68 respectively.

City in the sky sound pretty realistic to be honest. I mean surely if we put our minds to it we could adapt a series of zeppelins to hold building etc?

Oh and I'll say it, looks like the game will be based a lot around patriotism as well, maybe that would give it that extra historic interest in general.

It's NOT Bioshock 3 (As far as we know) and it's silly calling it so. Also, because it's placed before Bioshock 1 and 2 doesn't make it a prequel, we have no idea if the storylines are connected (I'd hope not) so I see it as a completely separate game more than anything. But we'll have to see when we get more information.

This and Gears 3 are the only games I'm looking forward to for the 360. To be honest, Reach looks like a huge disappointment - especially with the spaceship battles. :|

Rule of Cool.

Still have to get around to playing 2

Still need to get around to play 1

Setting some money aside for this. Gotta get around to finishing both the others. D:

But a city in the sky is badass.

They've done a city in the sky, they've done a city at the bottom of the ocean. The only logical step would be to make the next game be a city... ON LAND.

A horrible world that, in it's day, was something great. Intended as a place where anyone could have a chance at success. But at some point it all went down hill, and now all that's left is poverty, death, and immorality.

The next Bioshock will take place in New York City.

A CITY ON LAND?! WHAT MADMAN WOULD COME UP WITH SUCH A DEVIL-ISH CREATION!?

I'm voting space. :geek:

No.

Actually an underwater city IS more logical, provided there is a way to detect and minimise flooding. Having flooded areas automatically go into lockdown is a possible option if combined with heavy doors that are mostly sealed such as in BioShock. Enough flora should be capable of proving enough oxygen. Whereas with a city in the sky you have to keep the balloons pressurised, have fuel to keep balloons stable in the air and to help maintain height and move the city around as needed, and have a way of reducing murders; suicides and accidental deaths caused by falling.

Aye.

My mate said they're planning 6 games in total, which I don't trust, but it all works out! HAHA! Two underwater, two in the air, and of course, two in space!

Quite an interesting trailer, lovely animation.

Looks interesting, it's good that the original developers are in charge again. Bioshock 2 was a bit of a letdown imho.
