I'm at my wit's end with bosses...

Recommended Posts

Hey there. I need to make some money for the double xp weekend, and getting 95 prayer. I plan on doing bosses.(is there really any other fast way? lol) Problem is, I'm sick to death of my usual (bandos/sara gwd) and dry as hell too.

So I'm looking for some advice not only on what boss to do, but what setups I should use.

Stats:

Slayer_Jesse.png

Equipment:

Full bandos, Full Melee/Range Void, Chaotic Longsword, Dragonfire sheild (willing to sell this if needed for supplies) Dragon claws, Ah top/bottoms, sara/black dhide (dont tell me karils unless you think it really makes a big difference.) Fire and soul wars capes, fury. 2m cash but I can sell a few things if needed.

(crossed out questions are answered, bolded items are things I really want answered.)

Method 1: Bandos/ Sara gwd lootshare.

I'm sick to death of this, but if you really think I should try again I will.

Method 2: Solo bandos.

I really need help here. In my normal gear (full bandos cls with defender and stuff) I'm struggling just to get 2 kills. Should i swap armor or what? setup plox.

Method 3: Arma GWD LS

Ive never really done arma, mainly b/c I didn't have 90 range for so long. Ive done a few trips, but they were hardly what you would call successful. again, setup plz.

Method 4: TD's

I suck at tds. I always seem to get 2-3 of em on me, or I fail at prayer switching. However, I'm willing to give it another try.

A couple of questions:

Bandos/dhide or void? S

If i use void, should i get the new shield so i can get a platebody?

What spot is best for solo? and for duo? lure guides? O_O

What range wep do you recommend the most?

Should I use a tort and a uni, or just uni only?

And oh yeah, setup pics plox.

Method 5: DK;s Tribrid.

Ive only ever done solo maging (or solo maging with hybrids, but its same thing really...) However, i think i got enough gear to attempt this. I'd probably only do it on dagganoth tasks so i can use my full slayer helmet.

Questions:

Cls or balmung?

Is it worth bringing d claws for the amount of risk, or should i just use EE or borrow a sgs/Sara bow?

Fire wave, or slayer dart with SOL? (or suggest a spell)

Can i rely on unicorn's "cure" ability to deal with poison, or will i be running up to recharge my summ points too much?

Is there an easier way to withdraw items from a BoB? or is it not worth the hassle? (I'm leaning towards uni only.)

Method 6: Corp Beast

Ugh. corp beast. i never really liked this guy,(high risk and long kills) but considering how much sigils are i guess ill give it another shot.

Again, bandos or void? (i think id rather use bandos, as I do NOT want to have to get void again. Ever. I only got around to getting it at 133 combat  )

Can someone provide proof that all non spear damage is halved?

Can I get on any decent teams with my stats?

Oh, and one more thing. Ive got skele wyverns as my slay task and i havent done them in forever. (im doing b/c the bones are 8k ea and are onyl gonna get more expnesive b/c of double xp weekend.)

anyway, is there any way to totally block their icebreath? on the test run i did 90% of the dmage i recived was b/c of the breath. magic prayer? antifires?

Thanks for reading this, and thanks in advance for your help.

Teal deer version: I'm overwhelmed by the choice of bosses and need some halp.

Prayer is actually worse during bonus xp... fyi.

Consider getting 85 dungeoneering and killing frosts?

I know about the prayer thing, i just mean in general XD

I do plan on getting 85, but itl take ALOT of frost kills for 95, so i plan to buy some bones to speed it up.

For bandos, I'm pretty sure tassets + dfs + cls + black d'hide top beats full bandos with defender. Tort then uni.

For arma, you'll want very high magic defence (armadyl ranger armour and spectral, ideally) and high range attack bonus. That's pretty much all there is to it. Bring a unicorn.

For corp, z spear + fury + barrows gloves (these protect). Then some cheap stuff like black hide and ardy 3, climbing boots, neit etc. (maybe berserker/onyx (i) with prot item). If your team is large enough, bring a unicorn.

DKS tribrid: Fire surge with sol, since you can bring a sw cape. Don't use balmung, ever. I don't know about the uni and poison but I know you can withdraw items from your tort by selecting the correct option in the 'select left-click option' menu. You'll lose out on a lot of profit without a yak though. Claws are not worth it I think.

TDs: void works well but if you are new I suggest black hide + neit + fury + sw cape + defender/unh book and a uni.

For wyverns: their ice breath can't be stopped by anything. Just wear good melee gear + dfs and tank them with soul split (which you don't have so I guess a unicorn + ee + maybe food). Pray piety.

Which of these is the best money: TDs if you can get the moves down, otherwise solo bandos methinks.

thanks a ton for the advice :D I did try bandos with hide top/dfs and did better (except that i couldnt hit on the last kill of the trip and nearly died >_>)

i knew about the 1 click withdraw from tort, but that just gives you stuff in the order you put it in, so you cant pick what you need =\

I dont have a problem going cheap on corp, but i know most high lvl teams will...

You can't go on any pro corp teams without overload. Turmoil is practically always required too, I think.

The interplay between overload and saradomin brews is intricate and delicious and can not be replicated by mere extreme potions.

You can always try of course.

well i can tell you that sara bow isn't lendable and you should probably stick to void at levle 90 range.

Saradomin Bow is lendable, seeing as I am currently lending mine out at the moment.

All of this is assuming you trio.

For armadyl I suggest you sell dfs and buy armadyl chest and blessed spirit shield. The reason I suggest this is that you don't have to use a lower-end armadyl item. For example, karil's top + dfs + armadyl vambraces has 36 range attack, 123 stab defence, 83 magic defence, and 0 prayer. Whereas armadyl chestplate + bss + barrows gloves has 45 range attack, 121 stab defence, 78 magic defence, and 4 prayer. So you lose 3 stab and 5 magic defence for 4 prayer and 9 range attack which imo is worth it. Especially since you'd have 13m left over from selling the dfs for supplies and minor gear. So I would suggest this:

V helm

Fury

SW cape

Armadyl chesplate

Karil's skirt, or armadyl if you can afford it

Snakeskin boots

Barrows gloves

Onyx(i) > Archers(i) > Archers

Rune crossbow

Mithril grapple

The SW cape probably seems odd however I use it even though I'm 99 prayer. That massive +12 prayers does wonders and the extra def doesn't hurt either. It's easy to pick up your bolts after kree dies anyway; they stack in the same place and you have plenty of time. Especially with your low prayer prayer bonus is very important because how long you last depends on how long your prayer lasts; uni ee and food drops should cover almost all of your hp.

Inventory is hard to say because it varries so much on stats, gear, and preference. But start with this:

EE, 500 diamond (e), 500 ruby (e), 1k broads

unholy book, unicorn, unicorn, unicorn

unicorn, unicorn, 500 unicorn scrolls, 5 house tabs

Super restore, Super restore, Super restore, Super restore

Brew, Brew, Brew, Brew

Brew, Brew, Brew, Brew

Super restore, Brew, Brew, Brew

Ofcourse you will also have a unicorn summoned. This means you have 5.4 hours of unicorn (each pouch lasts 54 minuites), minus 20 minutes for kc, that's 5 hours of armadyl. If you can't/dont want to stay for that long adjust accordingly. Again this inventory is just an estimate, it takes a few trips to perfect it for your stats and gear.

Obviously use your unholy book and broads for KC. Before you and your team enter the room swap to your bss and ruby bolts. Call your minions, turn auto attack off, set quickprayers to protection from missiles / deflect missiles. Follow this pattern:

- Turn on quickprayers.

- Have you and your 2 team mates spread around kree in a triangle formation. This helps to reduce damage from the meleer (flight kilisa) as he wastes time flying time between team mates.

- Once kree is half health swap to diamond bolts (e)

- Soon before kree dies, right-click your minion.

- As soon as kree dies, attack your minion ONCE with your diamind bolts (e) to get it on you

- Swap to broads and your unholy book, change prayer if you don't have range min, keep attacking your minion, run over, and pick up your bolts and drop (if it's worth keeping). If done correctly you won't lose any combat rounds.

- After all of the minions are dead pick up the broads from your minion, pick up minion drops, switch to bss and ruby bolts, turn off your prayer, and stand back in the repsawn area.

- Repeat

General info:

- If the bolt picking up sounds like too much switch to ava's however your prayer will suffer.

- The minions have a max of 250 and kree's magic has a max of 210.

- The given setup has 4 2:1 and 1 3:1 brew ratios. Basically you can take 2 sips brew 1 sip srest 8 times and 3 sip brew 1 sip srest 4 times.

- Get into the rythm of your EE and the GWD altar. EE spec is every 5 minutes, altar every 10.

- If your unicorn's spec bar is low and you'll have to brew next kill but you have high prayer use eagle eye/leach defence until you can take the full prayer icnrease from a super restore sip.

TDs and Frosts are the best,

TDs make a little bit more profit per hour with overloads and Steel Titan, Frosts only require 96 summoning for max speed so that's a plus maybe.

For TDs I generally do 9 overload doses for a Steel Titan trip (2 full pots and a 1 doser to make room for claw specs/blue charms), you can do more if you use extreme prayers but I'm saving my stack for a boss that they'll be more useful at. Bring as many prayer pots as you need to cover your potion doses, for example I bring 11 for 45 minutes, and fill up the rest with brews...5-7 brews is more than enough for a 45 minute Steel Titan trip with some room to spare for mistakes or people messing up lures etc.

Unicorn trips are possible at TDs, Steel Titan makes it a lot faster but with chaotic and diamond/regular rune bolts you will get an okay kills/hour rate, maybe 25-30/hr or a few more. Keep in mind that means you will be getting claws per every 10-15 hours or longer, and at that rate luck plays a much greater factor and you may never profit for many dozens of hours then suddenly get several claw drops within relatively few kills of each other. TDs are notoriously unpredictable. Also with a unicorn it's possible to get crashed, though chaotic weapons reduce the chance.

Frost Dragons would probably be better with just extremes and no turmoil. However, you would need at least 96 summoning to make efficient use of them. It's certainly possible to do these by filling up your inventory and a tortoise for example, but you would get significantly less bones per hour. Still, the money would probably be about as good as GWD.

If you don't want to bother with TDs and don't feel like grinding Frost Dragons quite yet, GWD would be pretty good cash, not sure maybe 1-2.5m/hour averages depending on boss; others can talk about solo Bandos/trio arma/trio sara at more length but GWD is a good way to avoid a 96 summoning requirement.

I would not suggest DKs at all because the majority of the profit comes from yakking bones and hides.
