Strange bruising etc

Featured Replies

I've often gotten strange bruising, cuts and whatnot on various parts of my body without noticing. It includes purple bruising and puncture wounds to full length cuts. The reason I ask is because I found some puncture wounds on the vein-side of my right wrist. There are three of them, and they are in a strange positioning so I doubt my cut was responsible. But, primarily, this morning I noticed a very odd bruise. It's about three centimetres long and runs vertically from my neck to my chin. It's purple and fairly "splotchy". I haven't shaved in a while, gotten in a fight or engaged in anything that could cause such markings. It's not a stain or a pen-mark because it hasn't come off after repeated washing. It doesn't hurt when I try to touch it, so I have absolutely no idea what it is or where it came from. I was wondering, is this a condition, or does anyone else suffer from something similar?

How old are you?

Have you gotten drunk recently? Or used any other drugs? Is your memory good? Do you have memory lapses? Can you recall everywhere you've been and everything you've done over the last while?

I'm 15, never been drunk (only ever consumed very small amounts of port, wine etc), never taken non-prescription drugs, don't have memory lapses.

I have things like that on my back. It feels like laps of flesh are just chuncked out of my back. There clearly are textures. It doesn't hurt or whatsoever, but they don't seem to disappear either. Have them for about a year and a half.

AIDS. Not just AIDS, full blown AIDS :o

Nah, only kidding. You might've gotten those bruises during the day. They just showed up during your sleep. Make sure you don't have any rats/pests/pets/insects/etc that could've bitten you overnight though.

Could be the way you slept like your skin getting pinched or something. Happens to me occassionally.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Yeh i have the same kind of thing. I'll put on shorts to play a sport, and my leg will have a few nasty bruises on it. Someone elses always notices and asks how I do them, I don't realise they are there until someone points them out. Also similar to yours they don't hurt to touch, poke, punch anything lol. I usually get them on my arms and legs.

And by the way I have a track record of being an 'Active sleeper' my recent ventures have been getting up and turning on my light and then going back to sleep.

So I'm thinking its something in your sleep.

Could be sleepwalking. In fact, there's a guy in my country who apparently got in his car, drove to the next town over, shot his mother and father and law, drove home and got back into bed. That's his story. He got acquited.

Perhaps it's emo music (slitting wrists etc.) combined with sleepwalking. Do you listen to emo?

Not enough Iron, take some iron supplements they won't do you any harm but I would consult a real doctor rather than trying to get advice from a forum.

Do you have hemophilia? Either way, I'd go to a doctor. :P

Teaching and inspiring.

Happens to me alot. I usually just get unexplainable bruises and cuts on my legs and sometimes on my arms and hands. I think I just hit/cut myself without noticing I've done it.

Anyways see a doc, it cant hurt you.

A recent study shows that 92% of all teenagers have small purple pet elephants named Jack. Put this in your sig if you are one of the 8% who like to do the fandango on Wednesday afternoons

The only thing i can think of is sleep walking. You do things without knowing causing harm to your body. Consult a doctor and inform your parents.

sometime's i get wierd bruises or scratches not knowing how I got em, but I would definately see a doctor about that..

Don't have a phone or a flashlight anywhere near my room. The only slightly plausible reason would be I hit my neck with my guitar when the strap dettached itself or something of that manner. But I would think that if that happened, the skin would be very sensitive ... oh well.
